Michael Moore Warns All Democrat Candidates

Representing the far-left wing that is said to now be running the Democrat Party, Michael Moore is warning all Democrat candidates for office that they must tow the leftist line or face defeat as did Senator Joe Lieberman. Moore also warns these candidates that the left-wing of the Democrat Party will work actively to defeat all candidates that do not support an anti-war policy and an immediate withdrawal from Iraq.

Moore’s website states: “Let the resounding defeat of Senator Joe Lieberman send a cold shiver down the spine of every Democrat who supported the invasion of Iraq and who continues to support, in any way, this senseless, immoral, unwinnable war. Make no mistake about it: We, the majority of Americans, want this war ended -- and we will actively work to defeat each and every one of you who does not support an immediate end to this war.

“Nearly every Democrat set to run for president in 2008 is responsible for this war. They voted for it or they supported it. That single, stupid decision has cost us 2,592 American lives and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives. Lieberman and Company made a colossal mistake and we are going to make sure they pay for that mistake. Payback time started last night.”

Why don't you just start your own party Michael instead of trying to change the Democrats. You could call it the....... Socialist party.

May I also add to literary clarity. One is not hoist "on" a petard, but "by" a petard. (A petard is not a sword or gallows device).

The New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition. 2002.

hoist by one’s own petard

(pi-TAHRD) To be caught in one’s own trap: “The swindler cheated himself out of most of his money, and his victims were satisfied to see him hoist by his own petard.” A “petard” was an explosive device used in medieval warfare. To be hoisted, or lifted, by a petard literally means to be blown up.

When Charlemagne had finished building his Empire in 799, the Pope crowned him at a coronation ceremony proclaiming him the New Roman Emperor. This seemingly innocous act led to a fight that would last for centuries: who was the real king maker the Church or the State?

Tonight as I write this a similar coronation is going on in Ct. The sitting three term incumbent Joe Lieberman has been defeated by a political unknown Ned Lamont. (This is unusual because Joe is only the fourth Senator to lose a primary since 1980.)

Lamont is defined politically almost solely by his opposition to the war in Iraq. But the interesting part is the people who back him. Dubbed the "Netroots" it's an interesting patchwork of far left wing blog sites like DailyKos and MoveOn.Org. These people sent all kinds of money to Lamont who is a millionaire turning what is traditionally viewed as a local battle into a full scale national war.

Although they have found a narrow victory (Lamont catching 144,005 to Lieberman's 134,026, with 98 percent of precincts reporting) these people will be hailing a "major truimph".

This is going to leave moderate Democrats in pickle because the fringe's message isn't going to resonate with most people, and having most of the votes is what they need to win. If the attempt to appeal to the moderate base, they're going to lose the fringe and there aren't enough moderate Democrats to win anything either. Unfortunately, the fringe knows this and like the Pope's of old will excommunicate Democrat that refuses to tow their views.

Thus while anti war activists celebrate their victory, the real disaster and fight for the Democratic soul is looming ahead.

I don't know that Lieberman will win his seat easily, but I think he can win it. Since CT has so many independents, that makes me think that they don't wish to be drug down by party partisans. Otherwise, they would identify a party. While Moore and his ilk may enjoy a season for their ego, they should perhaps heed the era of McGovern and what those anti-war zealots did to their party.

You are correct when you say "toe," however, it appears that Michael Moore and his ilk appear to be "towing" that line further and further to the left.

and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives

Was fat-boy Michael concerned about the "tens of thousands of Iraqi lives" that Saddam murdered when he was still in power? I don't recall his great humanitarian concern at that time.

Moore and his ilk are scary because the have the power to influence millions with lies. It is nothing more than propaganda and the news "media" just go along with it.

Resounding defeat ???
Can't this idiot get anything right?
Maybe he will help Lamont the same way he helped Kerry.

The Dems are blowing it ... big-time.

They were a shoe-in to regain the POTUS and the Senate. But the kook left has taken over. Now they are in real danger of even keeping the numbers that they have now.

I know many democrats. They are all moderate. They are uncomfortable with their party's stand on fighting terrorism. They believe in a take care of America first attitude. They all go to church every week. But they don't vote Republican because they've been brainwashed into thinking that all Republicans are eeevvvil.

...but now they're being told that some Democrats are also eeevvvil.

And they don't want to support Hezbollah. Or homosexual agendas. Or a weak military. Or atheism.

I believe that they are going to stay home this November simply because they won't know who to vote for...an eevvil republican, an eeevil democrat, or a screaming-yellow liberal.

Heck, I think that already happened a long time ago......the Dems are so full of these whacked out socialists that have taken the party so far left, it's left plenty of room for the so-called "progressive - compassionate - conservatives" to conveniently move the direction of the Rep. party leftward without much fanfare.
