LOS ANGELES - The movie that could be the most important of Mel Gibson's career is one that may never be released if the actor and law enforcement authorities prevail.
But at least one media outlet is seeking access immediately to the potentially explosive video and audio of Gibson's drunken driving arrest.
The visual and audio record could add fuel to the controversy over Gibson's anti-Semitic tirade at a deputy who pulled him over and his self-described belligerent behavior toward deputies when he was brought to a sheriff's station in the early morning hours of July 28.
TMZ, an Internet celebrity news site which first released leaked sections of Gibson's booking report, maintains the tapes should be seen and heard by the public to assess whether the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department gave Gibson preferential treatment.
"We want the tapes not just because of Mel Gibson but because the tape puts the conduct of the Sheriff's Department in context," said Harvey Levin, head of TMZ. He said he had learned that the deputy who arrested Gibson radioed ahead to the station that someone should be prepared to videotape the scene because of Gibson's behavior.
"From what I understand, the deputies were very excited because Mr. Gibson was there," Levin said Thursday. "The tape may show them gathering around to peer at him."
Los Angeles' leading First Amendment lawyers said it will be an uphill battle to obtain the tapes before the case is resolved.
Attorney Douglas Mirell predicted authorities would invoke the investigative records exemption to the California Public Records Act, which is the single most litigated exemption...."

Harvey Levin has been around the L. A. news scene for years and by now has plenty of good connections.
Hmmmm.... It's good to know that we, the unwashed masses of Jews are being protected from people who say they don't like us, like Mel. Wall to wall coverage of the mean things he said, 24x7, 365 days a year!
Of course, since he really can't DO anything to the Jews in the US, we don't really have anything to worry about with him. So he's a safe target, as we can all go "tsk, tsk."
On the other hand, the same media who are playing up what an anti-semetic jerk Mel may or may not be are activly trying to quash stories of REAL anti-semitism, like Nasrallah stating, without any hiding, that he wants the Jews DEAD. And he's got the tools to do it, and the will to use them! And we can't see reports of the guy in Seattle, who shot all those women murdering one, because they were Jews and he was "mad at Israel."
Nope, the "puppet theater" needs to keep the focus on Mel, so we don't actually see the danger we're in. If we saw the danger, we might actually support the war, Israel, and President Bush's efforts against terrorists, and that's something that the "puppet masters" simply can't allow.

Well said. How is it that Mel Gibson single handedly deserves all the attention here while Hezbollah is hurling missles from under their women's skirts into Israeli towns to kill Jewish women and children while they sleep?
How is it that we hear nothing of the nations of the world condemning Israel for continuing to insist that they have have a right to breath the same air as the rest of the Middle East?
But it's Mel. You know...he did that "Christ" thingy last year. He's gotta go.
All said, Mel F*'d up, big time. Hatred yields it's own rewards and Mel is experiencing those in full. But my reaction is simply not to acknowledge him at all. It's said, he's done. Give him a few years and maybe he'll redeem himself. This is just one of those scenarios where you have to start all over again. If Mel seriously is sorry, he'll make up for it. Otherwise, he's over.
But there are those, particularly among the left, who somehow think a few hateful words deserves more attention than the attrocities of the Jew hating Arab and Muslim nations. They can all go to hell, the sooner the better.

Hillary's tirade (which was directed at Paul Fray and his wife, who weren't law enforcement) wasn't taped. Nor did it occur in the context of a DUI.
I wish people would stop comparing apples to PCs.
Napolitano said two days ago that technically they were not supposed to release the tape if he pleads guilty....which he will.
But some schlub will find a way with cash in hand.....I'd bet on it.

To get all lathered up about it several years after the fact shows that we have a lack of real substance to get lathered up about.

Harvey Levin used to be the Legal consultant on the air for "The People's Court"..Judge Wapner.
So now his claim to fame is to crucify Mel in order to promote his sleaze internet site that I wouldn't click on for all the tea in China.
And furthermore, Levin says the fact that Gibson is Jewish has nothing to do with his witch hunt...LOL!

I thought something similar that this wild media frenzy coverage must have something to do with Mel thumbing his nose at H'weird and making billions of dollars with H'weird's help. He made people angry, whether they be Jews or Gentiles. They're out to destroy him because they couldn't partake of his billions. Go Mel go!
People have gotten "lathered up" about it for years, I'm hardly unique. People on this very forum have regularly used Hillary's "F'N Jew bastard" statement as an example of the MSN looking the other way. No need to get "lathered up" about it.
