You win if you get 1 more vote than your opponent... unfortunately. I don't believe "he" will get to 50%. I'm still hoping for a miracle to head off this abomination.

Might as well tell you all I voted Corker for Senate and Richard Roberts for House of Representatives

Pls explain to me if you don't mind why you voted for this Corker guy and why he'll probably win. I thought Tennessee was conservative country.

Looks like a white Jew will be taking Harold Ford's seat in the 9th District

Steve Cohen is a flaming liberal. But, there was just no hope for a Republican in this district.

This is really going to make the black movers ans shakers in Memphis mad.

I should say, won't get 50% in the final tally. If he does, it will be because of 'Rats flooding the GOP primary, which was a tactic of Chattanooga Chafee's.

Cohen will still have to face an Independent Ford in the general. A Republican could conceivably win with a plurality, if they actually held together.

Interesting. That's what a number of analysts predicted.

Cohen would win with a small small small plurality as the black vote was carved up.

You know that the black will be looking for Cohen in two years - no matter how much he tries to cater to them.

They'll want "their" seat back!

Is Tennesse an open primary state?

So...a person can walk into the voting booth and not have to declare which primary they want to vote in?

Should Corker win, it will be a case of hard work millions of his own dollars and a smear campaign paying off.

Bryant was utilizing his lesser resources in the most effective manner.

Now you know how I feel with regards to tax-hiker Jean Schmidt. You don't seem to like the RINO's as much when they're in your backyard.

My parents live in Tenn. I know for sure one voted for Bryant. I imagine the other did too. I made sure they knew to avoid Corker.

Corker ran as a strong conservative. Many question his conservative bona fides. I believe he will be as conservative as Frist.

He will win because he raised tons of money, garnered all the support early of the movers and shakers, and assembled the largest gotv effort in TN history (according to his campaign). Early returns support that thesis. We shall see.

Cohen, if he prevails in the general, might be able to hold that seat longer than you think. Because there is no united faction of Black 'Rats, there could conceivably be another free-for-all challenge in '08 (unless, that is, Junior decides to try to reclaim his seat again -- presuming if Chattanooga Chafee doesn't hand him the Senate seat, because he ain't getting my vote - either of the liberals).

Yup. As open as Paris Hilton's hoo-hah. I've, unfortunately, had to vote in 'Rat primaries because there IS no Republican party in Nashville (despite the fact it votes 40% for it).

"He will win because he raised tons of money"

Actually, if he wins, it's beacuse he dumped a ton of his family money into the race.

Good point.

I'm going on the assumption that Memphis' black leaders will go all-out to assure there's not a split vote in '08.

Oh, Jiminy Christmas, let's not rehash that crap on this thread, please. As for Schmidt, I didn't see her ACTIVELY working to elect Democrats and actively being courted to run under their party label as Chattanooga Chafee has.

No. You have to declare, but you do not have to vote that party in the general.
