And so Corker wins. So now I can waste time listening to idiots on FR and elsewhere accusing me of being a DU troll if I don't vote for him because that, according to them, means I want Harold Ford, Jr. to win.

You see, I'm supposed to blindly go to the polls and actually forget I'm intelligent and believe Bob Corker isn't lying to me. That Bob Corker will never stray from the conservative principles he proclaimed to have in the election.

I bet these same people think I'll buy the bridges they have for sale.

Never apologize for standing on principle... especially when you're standing on the RIGHT principles.

Corker had a bunch of homeboys elected in key cities giving him support such as mayor of Knox County and Zack Wamp. I hope Wamp gets some real competition next election and is sent home. He's forgotten where he came from. People also forget when the so called "developers" of the 1982 Worlds Fair left town that Chattanooga was their new home. Some think that their homeboys do no wrong. Heck some people in Union County still love the Butchers and think they were the greatest think to happen to Tennessee banking since the invention of the bank vault. "Take our life savings that's OK you're on our side sniff sniff Bless ya'll good old boys". Tennessee Republicans also help put John Wilder as LT Governor in each and every time.

I'll look for an Independent to vote for OR I'll leave that ballot blank like I did last time "Lurch" Frist ran. Lurch Frist was much like Lurch Kerry really and stole Medicare reform ideas from Hillary Clinton but some peoples memories don't even remember Hillary's heath care plan. I didn't vote for Frist last time I left a blank ballot. I voted Independent instead of the "White Elephant" at taxpayer expense pusher Alexander as well. Many voters forgot just how pathetic his behavior was after being governor. Conservative values? Lamar never had them to start with. His whole political career has been feeding off pushing Big Government Projects.

The Conservative GOP is no more and it died in 1996 in the hands of Candidate Liberal Boob Dole with the Suzie and Chrissie Todd freak show under the Big Tent Circus called the GOP Convention. It has been replaced by Corporate Rockefeller Liberals with Globalist agenda's. May the GOP as we now know it's final fall come not a moment too soon IMO.

It's a really sad situation when the GOP sees ones like Newt as being a HERO too. That man is disgusting as he sold us out and was ran out of office in disgrace and the Rockefeller Republicans took over control of the house and senate after Conservatives put the GOP in power. But many short memory Republicans forget that as well.

Corker will do his Mentor Don Taxquist in Washington proud in helping create more Big Government and Big Government spending and loss of freedoms. Those who help elect Corker to the senate deserve the messes he will help create. Saddly many who did so will never even realize such for what it is as long as Their LIberal Team Wins and not those Liberal Dems. A sad state indeed.

You just don't have a real clue what is at stake if Ford wins.

You people that want to teach the Republicans a lesson will rue the day and the whole nation will have to suffer.

I am going to hold my nose as I have had to do forever in the senate race, and vote for Corker.

I don't think that you are a troll nor do I think that people that will vote for Corker really want him. Sometimes you just have to choose the lesser of the evils.

It would be real easy to just stay at home, but I will not give Ford my vote under any circumstance.

No, thanks. The Tennessee Republican Party dropped the ball by not leaning on Hilleary to drop out. If he had; it is a distinct possibility that Bryant would have won. Ford is your next Senator...enough conservatives will sit home to doom Corker.

No way. Corker has an easy target and the mud will fly on Mr. Ford. Plenty will stick. I am sad for the way this thing shook out; but it is what it is.

Wow! You have to be one of those rabid Redskins fans, kinda of like...me. BTW, down here in Florida we are losing a great Governor in Jeb Bush, and we are left with two, how can I put this charitably? Two non-entities vying on the Republican side that make Corker look like Jesse Helms. The conservative disgust down here is downright palpable. You could cut it with a knife.

However, on the US Senate side, I would trade Corker for our rodent senator up for re-election ,Bill Nelson, any day of the week.

We have our own Corker in our other US Senator, Mel Martinez. He's a big time RINO, but he is kept in check by the GOP Senate Caucus. Mel does not usually stray to far from the GOP line in the Senate. He supports the Bush selection of judges, tax cuts, and he is a stalwart in his defending of the War on Islamofascism. We don't get a whole loaf with ole Mel, but as long as he's right on most of the major issues ( he's horrible on shamnesty) I can accept him, warts and all.

Here's hoping for a great season this year!!

might be facing the one candidate that the polls showed he had a chance against

Ahhh, you cite a Zogby poll from June. In fact, the very Zogby poll you cite shows that Ford leads only Van Hilleary. So, in fact, it was Van Hilleary that was the one candidate the polls showed Ford had a chance against. Right?

Look. Zogby is questionable when it comes to national polling, much less polling states he knows nothing about in the South. Let's see what Survey America, Scott Rasmussen, Mason Dixon (with MD just add 5-7% to the pub candidate for correct results), UT, and others show. The last few from just a couple of weeks ago show Corker cleaning everyone's clocks. Those polls were proven right last night as Corker beat the snot out of all the candidates.

Just a word to the wise: Zogby is not a respected pollster among freepers. It's kind of like citing Debka for world news. If you see an article on Free Republic sourcing Debka in any fashion other than for ridicule, then you can bank on it that the freeper who posted it is either a newbie or a member of the tinfoil gang. No freeper worth their salt cites Debka, and no freeper who intends to try to be taken seriously cites Zogby. Unless, of course, it is the Zogby poll taken after the polls have been open for hours and he notices this massive public shift toward the winner that his previous 20 polls mysteriously missed.

Hope you are not too disappointed with last night's results. Believe me, Corker will be more conservative than Fred Thompson and about as conservative as Frist and Lamar. Neither Frist or Thompson (unsure about Lamar) had real personal convictions about abortion before entering the US Senate, but all voted their constituents conscience on it in most cases. Same for taxes and others. Others on the thread disagree and are convinced he will be moderate to liberal.

What we all agree on is that Ford is a leadpipe cinch to be a flaming liberal.

I can live with Davis. Honestly, the campaign was hard to take - they all laid claim to traditional valuse, borders, WOT, yada, yada, yada.

No the ones who don't have a clue are the Rockefeller Republican Democratic Party agenda enablers who voted for Bush and the rest of his Corporate Globalist Buddies in the name of the GOP. GWB=LBJ on domestic spending a Social Programs and the Moderate Rocky GOP sings "For He's a Jolly goof fellow" as he now gives away our nation to Mexico. And you're worried about Harold Ford JR? Oh my sides.

Some of us have known for a decade what was at stake and sounded the alarm even against those within the GOP. But Party before nation voters and party propaganda scare tactics always makes certain Liberalism in both parties wins. A very small problem Ford is compared to that. The Republicans do need to be taught a lesson ala Whigg and a Conservative Constitutional Party replacement the result. As long as voters keep on enabling the Rockefeller GOP and DEMS {who are one and the same} though it won't happen now will things improve. The GOP has in the past decade handed the DEM's legislation they could not have done in all their years as the majority. I would rather see the pre- 1995 Minority GOP back in power than what we have now simply because they actually stood for something other than DEM LITE agendas.

In Tennessee we survived two senator Gores {I remember both} but they didn't come close to doing the damage of pushing the nation into global socialism the GOP has done since 1995 and especially since 2001. No indeed they could only dream of accomplishing such an agenda but the GOP is making it happen right before our eyes.

Agreed...the non-stop commercials were interchangable. Hopefully; we get a break before the November cycle heats up.

As I've said before, I'm not going to try to convince anyone to vote one way or another where the Senate race is concerned. You need to vote your conscience and do what you believe is the right thing to do.

As for rueing the day, I've been doing that for quite some time with regards to the embarrassment that IS the Tennessee Republican Party. I will be supporting State Sen. Jim Bryson for Governor this November, despite some mild apprehensions and worries that he hails from the Buffy & Skipper wing of the Country-Club RINO establishment.

But make no mistake, I will NOT, repeat NOT, under any circumstances, vote to give the thumbs-up to that abomination of a primary "victory" yesterday. Ed Bryant's name will be written-in in November. This is a matter of conscience for me. And, yes, I do know what's at stake, and that's why it pains me so. How can we dare attack our 'Rat opponents with moral authority when our own house has a glaring cancer consuming it from the left ?
