Honestly, Ford really doesn't stand a chance. Outside of Memphis, Tennessee is extremely Republican. Add in all of his family drama, which I'm sure will get worse closer to November, and you have an easy victory for the state.

Keep in mind, Tennessee's the reason Al Gore wasn't elected. If we wouldn't vote for a presidential candidate from our own state, why would we vote for someone so entrenched in a family of crime? Harold Jr. is not respected at all in this state. Memphis is it's own little world.

Corker isn't a solid conservative, but more of a Bush type Republican. There is a difference. Corker is a Bush Pioneer, so I expect Bush will campaign for him in the election.

I am 35 miles north of Memphis, and this is UT country

We are Redskin fans and don't pay any attention to the Titans.

Didn't like them when they were in Huston and then was not happy the way were treated here.

Without a doubt. Look at all the connections between East Tennessee and Bush. The President will most definitely be campaigning in Tennessee this year.

Though not a Tennessee resident, I was interested in this race. I had high hopes for Ed Bryant and did several postings on him.

I tend to disregard the M/D in Tennessee. In the past they seem to underestimate things as far as Republicans go in the general elections. But I saw that same M/D poll reported four different ways also. This was the set of numbers Corker put out. The others were not nearly so rosy for him... perhaps Corker released the correct ones, but you also have to remember this was after months of Corker outspending the other two by better than 2:1 and painting them as the ones that were corrupt.

You forget that since we elected Al Gore, the parties have pretty much changed. Despite being conservative, the entire state of Tennessee didn't go for the GOP until 2000.

As for Alexander, he's another entrenched Tennessean that can do no wrong. Doesn't his family own much of the Knoxville area? He's served in almost every position of leadership in TN including president of UT. There was no way the man wasn't going to be elected despite his views. Sadly, the older generations are the ones who vote, and everyone remembered his plaid shirt campaign and loved him.

By that logic in voting for Corker, I assume you will be voting for Ford in the Fall.

Ford will not run as a conservative, and even if he did there is no compelling reason for him to vote that way and every compelling reason to vote with the liberals in his party.

Corker may or may not be a conservative at heart. However, there will be no compelling reason for him to vote as a liberal and very compelling reasons for him to be conservative in the Senate.

For he will have the biggest machine behind him, loyal supporters, and might be facing the one candidate that the polls showed he had a chance against.

I don't know which polls you are talking about. The ones I saw showed that Bryant and Van Hilleary would be in a dog fight with Ford, but Corker would clean Ford's clock. Do you have a link or two to share to support your claim?
