Returns should start around 8:30pm EST.
Hilleary's name is dirt. He's dead to me now.
I was in Memphis in '97. Stayed at the Peabody. Cost me a lot of cash - but was worth it.
At the time, downtown Memphis looked like hell - except for Beale Street, Mud Island and Cotton Row. The area around the Lorraine Motel looked decrepit. In fact, the downtown smelled!
I've heard downtown Memphis has improved some since then.
It may have improved, but there's still a flight going to eastern Shelby and De Soto, MS.
525/2432
Corker 100,829 49.95%
Bryant 70,300 34.83%
Won't take many boxes like that to turn this around.
Williamson 0/35 Bryant Corker Hill 1,519 1,112 391 49.87% 36.51% 12.84%
The county is in Bryant's district, has just the absentee ballots in, and has a lot of GOP voters. It is a hyper GOP suburban metro Nashville county, packed with social conservatives.
That's what made me a Titans fan! I grew up in Houston, lifelong Oiler fan, and thus was ticked when Bud Adams moved them to Nashville. But after what Tennessee did for the country in 2000, I had to put that in the past out of gratitude. Go Titans!
"pronunced East Tennessee"
Thanks for the correction. You can tell I'm not a native.
Hell yes. I could see it back then. Olive Branch Ms and Collierville...virtually all white and prosperous - in comparison to the rest of Memphis.
That's a small amount of good news.
Would you put up that link again?
On the bright side, Bryant is within 15 Points (much better than the earlier 28 points he was down....)
Thanks for the correction on the date. I plumb fergot about that VietNam war hero who ran in 04
Bob Corker has fallen to half the vote:

Listen up, in case you hadn't been reading this thread, why don't you learn a little bit about Chattanooga Chafee. Ed Bryant isn't a fringe candidate, he's a distinguished former 8-year Congressman. He also has the misfortune of not having money and actually has to work for a living. He doesn't have the luxury to write out a check to purchase an election wholesale. I'm not calling Chattanooga Chafee a RINO simply because he isn't my guy, I'm calling him an interloper whose views and agenda are far more in tune with the 'Rats.
I've known Corker for 12 years and seen him devolve into a lying little punk. I supported him over Frist in 1994 and saw him make his bones under the worst RINO Governor this state has ever had, and watched him back a rodent for his successor as Mayor, supporting liberal causes from abortion to being pro-KELO.
This race just isn't some little run-of-the-mill affair, this is a battle for the heart and soul of the party. The left has already taken over the rodent party, and I'll be damned if I sit here and give a wink and a nod while they take over MY party piece by piece. You can forget it. Apparently you seem to think it's a joke. You'd better wise up, pal.
New numbers from the Tennessean's web site:
U.S. Senate Republican primary - (675 of 2432 precincts reporting)
Corker - 105457
Bryant - 74871
Hilleary - 30142
Harrison - 1869
But we are Winner take all
The State GOP should have never let 2 real conservatives run against this RINO
unless by design
the GOP leadership here is less stalwart then the field troopers like me..pretty sad for a Dixie state
I'm sure you are shocked
Next 50 precincts:
675/2432
Corker 49.66 105,457
Bryant 35.26 74,871
VH 14.20 30,142 (total Bryant + VH = 49.46%)
I'm sick of playing nice. This is a f'ing war. Chattanooga Chafee ran under the wrong party label.
Williamson 24/35 Bryant Corker Hill 6,368 4,333 1,801 50.44% 34.32% 14.27%
Lucky you! I sure wish that I could forget him...
