Former Representative Michael Decker admitted in federal court today receiving $50,000 and a legislative job for his son in exchange for supporting Jim Black for a third term as House speaker in 2003.
The former Forsyth County lawmaker, who switched parties from Republican to Democrat, pleaded guilty to a single of charge of conspiracy to extort, commit mail fraud and launder money.
(snip) Decker's support created a 60-60 split in the House, allowing Black to remain as co-speaker. Black, a Mecklenburg County Democrat, in 2003 entered into a power-sharing agreement with Republican Rep. Richard Morgan.

Black and Decker Conspiracy!
(D)ecker Pleads Guilty.
They all say that.
Wow! I had to reread this to get the full impact of what was said.
This guy was bought and paid for by the Democrat Party!
The plea agreement read in court today said that Decker met with a Democratic House member to discuss the political deal, but the papers did not name that person. Later, Decker received an envelope containing $38,000 in checks and $12,000 in cash, court documents said. An unnamed Democratic House member delivered the money, whose source was unclear.
"but the papers did not name that person"
...WHY NOT?
"An unnamed Democratic House member delivered the money"
...WHY AREN'T THESE PEOPLE PROSECUTED AS WELL?
Great timing by the Observer!
So how much was Jim Jeffords paid?
Decker Switches to Democrats (Jan. 24, 2003)
(NC)Michael Decker returns to the Republican Party (Sept. 16, 2003)
From current article:
An unnamed Democratic House member delivered the money, whose source was unclear
Wanna bet how fast the media would name a Republican house member? How fast can your head spin?
But we can still count on one hand the number of GOP elected officials who have turned to the dark side. Even Jim Jeffords couldn't admit to being a Democrat and he was already well into the tank long before he ever changed name tags. We haven't lost any Congressman, no governors, no statewide officers (to my knowledge) and virtually nothing even on a local level.
Now, the highest profile RNC to DNC recruit is a guy who had to get bribed to jump ship. And if the guy could be bought for $50,000, he was already a Dem and was just in the closest about it. He is probably a 'gay american' also and is waiting for a bribe to admit it.
I welcome this loser to his natural party and to his new home in prison. North Carolina undoubtedly has honorable people to replace this schmuck without having to recall John Edwards to duty. (oh, that's right, you can't recall somebody to duty who never served....)
Carolina's ping
The sooner we are rid of the NC Dhimmicrat party in power here, the better.
LOL!! You're quick REDWOOD; you're quick.
I hadn't heard this; bought and paid for is right. The guy clearly is as unethical as they come.
Dems being corrupt won't make headlines. No bias there...
