Woman Denied Public Assistance Because of Her New Car

Stephanie Drinkard is a single stay-at-home mom with two little girls. She moved back to Nacogdoches a month ago from Louisiana. There, she was on Section 8 housing, food stamps, and Medicaid, but she can't get that help in Texas because of a contest she won back in October.

"I went online and entered," said Drinkard. "I didn't know I was gonna win it. Only like two people won - it was me and somebody else - but it's a 2006 Limited Edition Toyota Avalon and it's like a $40,000 car."

I'm blessed in that I could easily afford a new car, yet we drive a beater to save gas as our 2 other vehicles are gas guzzlers. It is sad that she chooses that car over feeding her kids. Maybe she will be living in it someday.

If she sells the car she will probably blow through the money in about 3 to 4 months. Gotta have a new wardrobe and get her bling on. I see it all the time on Judge Judy, these people get settlement money or inheritance and they blow the money on their boyfriends, girlfriends, family and friends partying etc. and come to Judge Judy to recoup some money from one of the moochers because they spent it all on a bunch of crap and are now broke and have no money to pay bills and things they should have spent the money on.

My question precisely, winners of contests pay taxes before possession of winnings, so how on earth did she come up with the 20% plus, federal, and who knows how much state, plus license fees. Hmmmmm? I mean that's 8 grand federal taxes on the car alone.

This is why winning anything, like the house that DIY TV "gives away" each year, is more likely to be sold than used by the winner, because the FEDERAL CONFISCATION AGENCY deems it necessary to take what doesn't belong to them in the name of taxes.

Like the death taxes the leftist are always poo pooing, that never hurt anyone. BS, inheritance taxes hurt everyone, by confiscating wealth that would be used to build on itself and build business, and using it wealth consuming ways, and when exhausted more confiscation is necessary. I know a dumba$$ who was working construction and fell off a high area, and impaled his neck on a piece of rebar. His employer insurance paid for his hospital bills, workman's comp, etc. and was doing him right and making sure his needs were met, but his TRASHY family pressured him to sue his employer. He did and they blew through the money in a couple of months. Then he had the NADS to show up wanting his old job back!!!! BTW, he tested positive for marajuana whenever he was at the hospital immediately following the accident.
