That little fantasy scenario makes about as much sense as the following scenario.

A decorated sergeant and Arabic language specialist was absent from duty that day due to being on sick call and getting treatment for his HIV+ status.

He is lawfully serving the U.S. Army under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, and has not told anyone he's gay - which is absolutely allowed.

The military is not allowed to kick him out for being HIV+ as long as he does not practice open homosexuality or state that he is a homosexual. HIV is not proof of homosexuality.

His commander is NOT allowed to ask him how he got the HIV if the question is related to homosexual activity.

There are active duty members who serve with HIV they came down with after entering service and the military is not allowed to discharge them on those grounds alone, as long as it does not progress to full blown AIDS. And then they get full medical care if they are discharged for AIDS.

However the military may reclassify them to another job and prohibit them from deploying to certain geographical regions or combat zones.

You have 10 intercepted documents written in Arabic.

One of the 10 documents tells where a nuke is located that will go off in 30 minutes. It takes 25 minutes to interpret each of the documents.

You have 10 interpreters for the 10 documents but one is gay.

The gay not being there that day because he is at sick call for his HIV+ related illness means at least one of the documents won't get interpreted in time to find the nuke and react.

Military: "we are bending over backwards to accommodate gays, but it is still never good enough for the militant gay agendists"

Open the floodgates to the Gay Left Wing Anti-War crowd - sure, makes sense to me.

They kick you out for HIV anyway, but this is a typical Times hit piece. "decoated" could mean the NDSM, the GWOTS, good conduct, and a AAM or two for tying his shoes right. Big deal. Also, the gov't can always hire the homos back as civilian contractors to translate documents.

HIV is not only a Gay disease. This same scenario could happen with any one of the 10 people being out that day due to medical reasons. One of the guys could have been out getting tested for the clap, for crabs,or for any number of other medical reasons or just other reasons in general.

There is no reason why any person who is physically and mentally fit should be allowed to defend and serve Thieu country if they choose to. I much rather have them standing next to me defending the country then some code pinko or other leftist who was forced to be there.

I think you assume that all gays have HIV. So I assume that if they don't have HIV you'd be okay with gays in the military? By the way there are ways to get HIV+ without being gay. I'd also not object to a HIV+ person interpreting plans to destroy us. We're talking about national security here.
