Which is why I won't own a TIVO (or any other DVR device which has a data return link to "set the channels"). What I want is a device JUST LIKE A VCR, but which uses hard drives instead of tape.
Purchase an HTPC, costs more but it guarantees you controll it not some faceless corporation trying to make money for tampons or douche.

I've got one.It's a DVD burner/HD in one.I can easily record to HD,then record to DVD if I like the show,or I can simply record straight to DVD.Best purchase I've made in years.It also plays MPGs and displays photos from cd.I like it also because I can take my vhs camcorder videos and burn them to DVD.Paid around $239 for it if I remember correctly.
