In Tennessee's U.S. Senate campaign, a new Chattanooga Times Free Press poll shows Bob Corker (R) leading in the Republican primary with 39%, trailed by Ed Bryant (R) at 23% and Van Hilleary (R) at 22%.
In the general election, Corker leads Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D-TN), 49% to 36%.

Remember Jim Sasser's ads when he used to pretend to be Conservative and tough on crime ? Corker is Sasser as a Republican. The ads, like the candidate, are full of horse$hit.
Was he a real Republican when he helped a liberal 'Rat into the Chattanooga Mayor's office ? How 'bout all of his other liberal squish positions and the fact the 'Rats were falling all over themselves to get him to switch parties to run for office ? No, he is not a Conservative. Neither was Scumquist. The RINO termites are NOT to be trusted, period.

Pray tell, how will Chattanooga Chafee clean up in the general when Conservative Republicans like myself won't vote for RINO trojan horse traitors like him ? Ed Bryant gets my vote in the primary AND the general.

This kind of thing has happened for years in Republican primaries for the House in the Midwest and CA, particularly. Conservatives cannot agree on one candidate, they splinter their vote, and the "moderate" gets the nomination. I'm sure it will happen in TN too. I've notice more and more southern conservatives cannot control Republican primaries in their own region. A lot of this is merely the lack of knowledge about the candidates.
Number #1 problem = NO runoffs. Start requiring candidates to receive 50% or they go to a runoff and this cancer of RINOs winning primaries will be dramatically curtailed.
Vote Bryant. Hillery should drop out for the good of the party.
BTW, if you take note of Georgia, McKinney came in 1st place in her primary, and were it not for their requiring a runoff, she would not be in jeopardy of losing her seat.
They used to require 50%+ wins in the GENERAL, otherwise Paul Coverdell would not have won in '92 when he narrowly trailed incumbent Sen. Wyche Fowler, but conversely, GA would've had a GOP Governor as long ago as 1966 with Bo Callaway, who placed first in the general, but only with a plurality.

Hear hear. Bryant asked Hilleary to drop out about a month ago. He needs to do it quickly.
What's funny is that everyone I know is voting Bryant. But I live in Middle Tennessee, so I'm not sure how the polls are saying it's over.
No conservative will ever defend Don Sundquist, at least in public.
However, Lamar Alexander got a score of 92 in 2004 and 88 in 2005 from the American Conservative Union and since he has been in office he has voted pro-life in 23 of 24 issues according to National Right-to-Life (the one negative mark was voting for stem cell bill that Bush just vetoed).
You may have issues with Lamar prior to him being a US Senator. But how could a fair-minded conservative take issue with his record since he took office?

Seems like PF has rested on his laurels a little too much since '98. He can't blame Sanders for stuff that Sanders was (or wasn't) allowed to do. Hopefully, Cut will bring back the fire to PF.
And I agree. I think the secondary will be much better.
