Hezbollah terrorists fire a missile from the southern Lebanese city of Tyre.
I agree with you. I think Karen Hughes is being under utilized. I suppose if she wanted another position, she could have it. So maybe this is how she wants it.
That was a joy to watch
Clark is such an idiot
The Diplomatic Tango
One step forward,
then two steps back with him,
change your partner,
then do it all again,
Bouquet of carrots,
or stick twirled violently,
Peace comes hard won,
Yet war comes instantly.
Words, o words, o spinning words,
so diplomatically spoken,
offers float by like trial balloons,
piecrust promises broken.
Beware the knife he hides
there in his other hand,
who can you get him talking to,
to make him understand,
Gunfire rattles
are not a children's gift.
Peace is hard won,
what glue can heal this rift?
Words, o words, o spinning words,
so diplomatically spoken,
offers float by like trial balloons,
piecrust promises broken.
Feint and thrust and
don't let them see your plan
play them together
and hope they understand.
Cover your backside,
or else you'll feel the knife.
Peace comes hard won -
What salve can heal this strife?
Words, o words, o spinning words,
so diplomatically spoken,
offers float by like trial balloons,
piecrust promises broken.
Lebanon Parliament Speaker Rejects US Proposals-Official
Lebanonese Parliament Speaker (Nabih Berrir) has rejected Rice's proposals.
Whoever the heck that is. Parliment member I think they said? That's gotta be some sort of record.
Bush orders humanitarian aide to Lebanon but opposes ceasefire
US President George W. Bush has ordered helicopters and ships to Lebanon to provide humanitarian aid, but he still opposes an immediate cease-fire that could give relief from a 13-day-old Israeli bombing campaign.
Announcing the assistance program, White House press secretary Tony Snow said Monday there was no reason to believe an immediate cease-fire would stop violence in the Mideast and said instead the world should confront the destabilizing force of Hezbollah and its practice of using the Lebanese people as "human shields." Speaking of smackdowns. She, Michelle Malkin, eats Pat Buchanan and spits him out.
Hate to keep putting up all of these links but I find them interesting and sort of on topic.
So what does this mean? The ceasefire has been rejected so Israel gets to continue?
Makes me nervous that these guys are getting awful brave.
Considering the close ties the Shiites of Lebanon have with Syria, and with Hezbollah, I am not surprised to see the first comments coming out of a Shiite spokesperson.
The links are great.
Israel rejects Syria being an intermediary. Hezbollah doesn't like what Rice has to say.
Let the games continue is the response I see....
Does anyone know what the "proposals" were?
And those proposals were ... ?
Interesting site, thanks for posting it. I look forward to exploring it later tonight.
I haven't seen any public information on that yet.
No word on what the actual proposals were. At least, not that I've heard.
No surprising but record fast.
Responding to reports about diplomatic efforts to end the fighting, Nasrallah said the priority was to end Israeli attacks on Lebanon, but he added that he was open to discussing initiatives.
Those attending Monday's conference included a top Foreign Ministry official and Gen. Mirfaisal Bagherzadeh of the powerful Revolutionary Guards.
The Palestinian ambassador, Salah Zavavi, said he believes the chances for a comprehensive political solution have passed. Israel also is battling Hamas-backed militiamen in the Gaza Strip claiming to hold an Israeli soldier missing since an ambush last month.
Hamas won Palestinian parliamentary elections last month but has been snubbed by Israel and many Western countries as it refuses to recognize Israel and renounce violence.
"The resistance groups will not accept a political end to this," Zavavi said. "They will not put down their weapons."

They rejected a reasonable proposal to implement UN resolution 1559? Kick them out of the UN and cease aid.
