WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) - Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan visited the Navajo Nation today to discuss issues the two groups have in common.

A spokesman for Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley says Farrakhan had wanted to learn more about the tribe and the region and suggested the visit.

Farrakhan had a series of meetings with Shirley and others and spoke before the tribal council.

He touched on racial tensions that Navajos say have been brewing in the towns bordering the sprawling reservation.

Farrakhan and Shirley also talked about American Indians’ struggle for sovereignty and self-determination and the need to overcome challenges such as poverty, ignorance and apathy.

Things that make you go, "hmmm".

I have to wonder what his real motivation was to visit the largest reservation in the US.

Fostering hatred of America? Frankly they have nothing in common.

"Hey, don't these white Christians suck?"

"Get off of my land, insulting my customers that way!"

(I know, I know, couldn't resist...)

There are quite a few Christian Navajos. They are one of the reasons that Highway 666 is now Highway 491.

Fostering hatred of America?

That was my first thought. I'm getting too cynical (or realistic) in my old age.

As though there aren't enough crooks taking advantage of the tribe on the Rez.

Sheesh.

I think that some of these nutty Muslim groups believe that Native American tribes are actually Arabs. Why Black Muslims would want to be within spittin distance of an Arab, I don't know, since the Arabs were the slavemasters and slavetraders of Africa.

IIRC, the Mormons - who have some features in common with Islam, since they are both strange personal "visions" drawing mostly on the Old Testament - also have some belief about Indians being from the ME (perhaps the 12 Lost Tribes?).

I prefer to call them The Dine[h] The People as they call themselves.

Spanish for theif is not my idea of an edifying moniker.

'louie' may be looking for a home land for his followers. But 'louie' will be very surprised, the Navajo are the most resourceful of all the tribes.

Wouldn't waste a good arrow.

Of course, if he was determined to visit some canyons and pinacle peaks . . . I might suggest some uh rarely traveled sort of trails up. Some places . . . getting up is a lot easier than getting down.

Fairy Con might end up doing more praying than he's ever done before. And if he prayed in the typical Muslim fashion, he'd need to be careful about the Kokopele's running around looking for uhhhh friends.

Have been very blessed to see on my return to the area that The Dine[h] have done very well for themselves. They have to big bucks coal fired power plants a dozen miles east of town. They have the Navajo Dam irrigation project NAPE affording lots of good crops. They have timber etc. It's great to see them raise their standard of living.

Now, if I could just get some of the men to study a bit harder in their courses.

I love seeing their artwork.

Got a kick at the cafeteria the other day. An elderly Dine[h] grandmother was with her family eating out. She had on the traditional Squaw Dress of probably velvet . . . and a scarf on her head that was Navy blue with red lettering as a design element. The red lettering said:

CAPITALIST TOOL

LOL.

Agreed. I think the nature of the trouble being stirred up is the only thing in question.

Methinks that

Fairy Con

lives, breathes, eats, farts, . . . allllll merely to cause as much trouble as he can . . . sometimes as much as he can get away with.
