The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps calls itself a "project of the Declaration Alliance," although few MCDC volunteers know what the alliance does or why Minuteman donations are routed through the charity founded and headed by conservative activist Alan Keyes.
Several Minuteman leaders and members questioned the wisdom of ceding control over fundraising to the Herndon-based Declaration Alliance, part of an intricate weave of conservative organizations founded and chaired by Mr. Keyes or tied to longtime Keyes associates working with MCDC.
MCDC President Chris Simcox told The Washington Times that the alliance offers "an experienced organization for mass mailings, advertising and public relations" and the ability to conduct a "fully accredited and independent audit" of MCDC finances.
Mr. Simcox said he "checked these people out very carefully before agreeing to work with them" and that he made the "correct decision" in hiring "clean professional consultants, accountants and media professionals." He did not, however, disclose during an interview last week or in a 3,961-word follow-up statement how much Declaration Alliance and its affiliated organizations have been paid for their services
During the interview, he said, "Not one cent of MCDC money has been spent on alliance projects." The statement, released on the MCDC Web page, www.minutemanhq.com/hq/, does not mention Declaration Alliance or Mr. Keyes. ...."
"..Diener Consultants first contacted the Minuteman organization in early 2005, said Ms. Hair, the MCDC spokeswoman who also was a top adviser to Mr. Keyes in his presidential and senatorial races. She said she called Mr. Simcox after the Minuteman group was created to ask whether he had a media plan. After being told no, she said, she met with Mr. Simcox and Minuteman co-founder James Gilchrist in Washington and signed an agreement...."

Side job! lol
We, the undersigned Minuteman Civil Defense Corps officers and leadership, have complete confidence in the professional firms we have retained to perform fiduciary responsibility and accounting for the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. We here reconfirm the Board of Directors decision to employ accredited and experienced professionals to assist the organization in management of our finances.
The Declaration Alliance and the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps organizational entities are both in full compliance with IRS regulatory statutes and filing obligations. Each entity will file the requisite Form 990 on deadline by this November 15th, being held to the same standard as every other non-profit corporation in the country.
There are those both within the border security movement and actively opposed to it who, for ideological reasons or in advancement of personal ambition, wish the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps to fail. Critics are obtaining false information from known racialists, anti-Semites and a small handful of disgruntled people who have been terminated from staff or from leadership involvement with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps over a year ago because they could not meet MCDC standards or adhere to our strict field standard operational procedures.
Consequently, these dismissed Minutemen have no actual knowledge of MCDC finances, regulatory compliance, filing deadlines, non-profit status, or other accountability matters.
The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps with its border watch efforts in all four southern border states and five in the north and growing, has forced into the national spotlight the lawless and wide-open conditions at our borders. Illegal immigration and our lack of border security is now arguably the #1 issue in this country, and tabloid-style gossip of this nature drives readership. Recent criticism of Minuteman Corps finances is utterly without merit.
The Minuteman Corps has taken on every branch of government, every politician, every government entity and every agency involved in collusion or negligence to keep our borders wide openand have exposed them as either corrupt, negligent or even criminal in their incompetence. It is no surprise that efforts to discredit our organization abound. We continue in our mission undistracted and undismayed by these groundless attacks.

There is a very simple way for Simcox to make his case. The latest word from him is that he has raised approx. 350,000 dollars for the fence project that went into a bank to be held for the sole purpose of fence building. To date he has built 2.2 miles of cattle fence for Ladd and he estimated the cost at about 15,000 dollars. Using those 2 numbers with a simple bank statement, that he could publish, the fund should have over 300,000 dollars for future fence building. No need for in depth itemization just funds received to date minus funds expended and balance on hand.
.
As for Simcox, when & if there is any evidence of wrongdoing I'll be right there calling for punishment, because unlike some I believe all laws are meant to be enforced.

LOL...what an invitation! How could anyone refuse it? :-)
And just because YOU assert something, certainly doesn't make it so. ;^)
You have to check this out.
Where there is smoke there is fire!
The linked article makes it sound like Diener Consulting were being paid for their services all along.
I'm very very sure their spokesperson said in May 2005 she was volunteering her time. I don't remember anyone else being mentioned around that time.
I'm also curious to know how SJuan Hannity fits in. He was certainly doing his part to help raise awareness for the MM-Keyes organization in 2005. After the publicity he gave them, money appeared to pour in, at least according to the way their site updated its ability to process donations.
They should stop taking after every politician. They're the kiss of death for the guy they support. This effort paid off for them in CA and UT. LOL
Same here. Hannity did several shows on location and really promoted the heck out of the MM. You would think he'd be interested in helping set the record straight, but I can understand his reluctance to get involved (now).
I just noticed how well Philip Zodhiates, owner of Response Unlimited (mentioned in the article cited) is doing. Here's his vacation house for rent in Nicaragua @ $1200.00 a week, and it comes with f/t maid and butler. Very Luxe.

"Alan Keyes Universe"? :: laughs::
Now you can target his complete donor base with a single list! These conservative individuals are passionately pro-life and pro-family and will do what it takes to ensure that their voices are heard!
Test this list for all types of fundraising, especially Christian, conservative, and pro-life appeals. Test this list also for all varieties of charitable, subscription and financial offers...
The Jackpot List!
Thanks, I'll file that away.
Could be she "got in good" with them and then "set the hook".

Supposedly he & the spokeswoman are good buddies. I don't know if there are other tie$ or not.
The audience stats on his TV and radio shows during that time might be interesting.
It seems to me that he was behind Lou Dobbs in covering this issue. As a matter of fact, I had started watching Dobbs instead of FoxNews at some point last year simply because of Dobbs' coverage of the immigration issue - he was addressing it, and Fox was still talking about Natalee Holloway, etc.
"de-duped"?
