I don't remember, but isn't Bulgaria a coalition member that has been with us in Iraq from the beginning?

The United States and the Republic of Bulgaria have signed a Defense Cooperation Agreement which refers to the conditions of the shared use of several military facilities on Bulgarian territory. The Agreement is based on our understanding that Bulgaria and the United States are allies, that security, defense and the fight against terror are joint work, based on the goals and principles of the UN and on our shared values. The U.S. has also signed a similar agreement with the Republic of Romania and the military units deployed to both Bulgaria and Romania will be known as Joint Task Force East.

Nice to have friends where you need them.

Yes, they were a temporary member of the UN Security Council and voted with the US on the resolution that served as the ultimatum for Saddam. Later Bulgaria deployed a 500-strong unit in Karbala, fought against Sadr's boys and had several KIA.

Outcry as border guards seize British 'dirty bomb' lorry heading for Iran
Daily Mail ^ | July 22, 2006 | Jason Lewis

Border guards seized a British lorry on its way to make a delivery to the Iranian military - after discovering it was packed with radioactive material that could be used to build a dirty bomb.

The lorry set off from Kent on its way to Tehran but was stopped by officials at a checkpoint on Bulgaria's northernborder with Romania after a scanner indicated radiation levels 200 times above normal.

The lorry was impounded and the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (NPA) was called out.

On board they found ten lead-lined boxes addressed to the Iranian Ministry of Defence. Inside each box was a soil-testing device, containing highly dangerous quantities of radioactive caesium 137 and americium-beryllium.

The soil testers had been sent to Iran by a British firm with the apparent export approval of the Department of Trade and Industry.
