Heavy exchanges of fire in Avivim area

(VIDEO) Fighting in Avivim continues: Nine people injured, including IDF soldier, and Hizbullah terrorist killed in exchange of fire; during morning hours three soldiers hurt when missile strikes tank in same area
Hanan Greenberg

VIDEO - Serious exchanges of fire have been taking place since the afternoon hours in the Avivim area on the northern border. Until now it has been reported that nine people, including an IDF soldier, have been injured and a terrorist has been killed. The Avivim area has turned in recent days into a battleground for IDF forces. On Wednesday, two soldiers were killed in battles with terrorists.

The exchanges of fire began in the early morning hours. An IDF tank was hit by an anti-tank missile and three soldiers were injured, one of them seriously. A second missile struck an IDF vehicle and two terrorists were killed in that battle.

During the afternoon, exchanges of fire broke out again, as Hizbullah mortars were fired. The IDF used tanks and combat helicopters in its battle against the terrorists.

The operations in the area are aimed at redrawing the border between Israel and Hizbullah in order to strike at the Hizbullah infrastructure in the area.

Among other targets, soldiers destroyed three rocket projectors in the area. At a certain stage fire was opened at them, apparently in two circles – short and long-range. One soldier was hit by a bullet in the jaw and taken to the Ziv hospital in Safed. A short firefight developed, and at least two terrorists were killed. After the injured soldier was evacuated, operations into Lebanese territory continued.

It's disgusting. I can't begin to tell you how depressed I am. I have never seen so much hatred for the Jews and Israel as I have in the past few days. Maybe I've been blind, my father told me about this the whole time I was growing up yet I never believed him. I guess I just wasn't paying attention. But now, as I'm older and I do pay attention, to the press, to the world, to those disgusting Democratic websites, he was right. We are still hated and hated viciously.

Mahmud Ahmedintheyard?

Satire? Spelling is off the charts.

Yes, you got it right. It is Ahmed-in-the-yard. The actual letter is not in the public domain yet, I anticipate that it says that Iran will answer the nuclear proposal on August 22.

The satire is based on the actual letter that he sent to President Bush, but I made some changes in the text:

I got a copy of the letter that Ahmadinejad sent to Germany yesterday. It is very similar to the letter that was sent to President Bush, so I have deleted most of the pseudo-philosophical stuff. Here goes:

Mrs. Angela Merkel,
Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany,

For some time now I have been thinking, how one can justify the undeniable contradictions that exist in the international arena and which are being constantly debated, especially in political forums and among university students. Can we trust the will of the people?, do all humans have equal rights?, are there such things as freedom of thought, conscience, expression, opinion and religion?

snip

Young people, university students, and ordinary people have many questions about the phenomenon of Israel. I am sure you are familiar with some of them. Why is this regime being supported? Is support for this regime in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ (PBUH) or Moses (PBUH) or liberal values? Or are we to understand that allowing the original inhabitants of these lands, i.e. homo erectus or homo ergaster -- inside and outside Palestine -- whether they are Christian, Muslim, or Jewish, to determine their own faith runs contrary to principles of democracy, human rights, and the teachings of the prophets?

snip

Chancellor, history tells us that repressive and cruel governments do not survive. God has entrusted the fate of man to them. The Almighty has not left the universe and humanity to their own devices. Many things have happened contrary to the wishes and plans of governments.

Can one deny the signs of change in the world today? Is this situation of the world today comparable to that of 27 years ago? Changes happen fast and come at a furious pace. The people of the world are not happy with the status quo and pay little heed to the promises and comments of a number of influential world leaders. Many people around the world feel insecure and oppose the spread of insecurity and war and do not approve of or accept dubious policies undertaken by our government. The people are protesting the increasing gap between the haves and the have-nots and the rich and poor. The people are disgusted with increasing corruption in my country. The people of many Islamic countries are angry about the attacks on their cultural foundations and the disintegration of families. They are equally dismayed with the fading of care and compassion.

snip

Chancellor whether we like it or not, the world is gravitating toward faith in the Almighty and justice and the will of God will prevail over all things.

Peace to him who follows the rightfully guided Mahmud Ahmedintheyard
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

P.S. Are you an Angel?

"I am SO proud that Bolton keeps using the term
"terrorists" when addressing this problem."

I am so very proud of Bolton and Tony Snow. They are not sugar coating, using diplo-speak or sticking a band aid on the most serious issue of our time.

The MSM is accustomed to being catered to with kid gloves, to being given an honored respect they have never earned, that they react with shock by plain talking, plain speaking honest men representing the Bush Administration.

I cheered Tony Snow thanking HELLen Thomas for the Hezbollah viewpoint. He said one of the many things I want to say to these ignorant, vapid, parrots of the MSM.

Don't be misled by all the negative press. The media, like the Dems/libs, always take that approach. You have a great deal of support in America.

I don't think anything has to be done for Israel to look bad...the UN has pretty much painted THEM as the bad guys anyway.

Somebody else said it already ...

"Is this the price we pay for aspiring to build our democratic institutions?"

No..this is what you get for sponsoring terrorists in your own country that attack a sovereign nation. Pretty simple muhammed.

Figure it out fast or you will reep the whirlwind. Your lies will not save you.
