Mike, on one of the interviews I saw this morning, this woman said she was in Lebanon to "help" because the world community was not "doing enough" for them. NOW she was complaining that the US is too slow to get them out. I don't mean to sound heartless, but my mama used to tell me, "Well, you got yourself into this mess, now get yourself out." SOME of these people (I'm sure not all) are there because they ignored what's going on around them--now our military has to risk lives and equipment to get them out. Do-gooder liberal....
I'm with ya!!!!!!!

Got it. It was a lame attempt at humor anyway... drawing attention to the fact that the article title makes the type of aircraft a big part of the story.

That the AFSOC version. Seldom flies in the daytime, except for training. And maintenance test flights. A very wonderful machine when all the magic stuff is working.
The Marines don't have all the knobs and protrusions on theirs. More seriously, they don't have a refueling probe.

Lebanon is/was on the travel with caution list, or whatever it is called.

Shep's coverage of Katrina was such a joke - that is one of the reasons we laugh at him.
I don't expect the FEDERAL government to do what LOCAL and STATE governments are responsible for doing.

Just heard on FOX that the Americans had booked hotel rooms and rented a stadium with 500 cots. Also arranging transport back to the U.S.
At least no-one can blame FEMA for any snafus on this one.
Although I'm sure some will try!

The only people who thought Shep Smith did a good job in New Orleans are those who didn't (and still don't) know what happened during the hurricane. He spouted almost as many lies per minute (LPM) than Dan Rather talking about President Bush's ANG history. Let's start with "Well, it looks like New Orleans has dodged the bullet" (over and over, many times during the "news" cast, even as the levees began to spill the waters into New Orleans). I could go on about "babies being raped in the Super Dome"--or was that Geraldo? The two are of a kind.

I was referring to the travel warning on the state dept web page. It is clearly dated 7/13.

Before the travel warning dated 7/13 was posted on the State Department's website, there was one dated 5/2. I know this because I checked their website shortly after the hostilities began, before they updated their travel warning. I'm also pretty sure that there were travel warnings posted by the State Department for years, possibly since the civil war began in 1975.

I hadn't looked at that page since my trip to Israel in
November. I was under the illusion that Leb was a resort
posting these days.
