Some people on FR don't understand the need for zots and banning trolls. (A troll was baiting you today, I noticed.) This kind of slam underscores the need for giving trolls the immediate heave-ho.

(A troll was baiting you today, I noticed.) Yep! A brand spanking newbie! At first I thought it was just ignorant, so offered some informative information. Then I realized it was just stupid and ignored it. ;*)

There are more SMART people here at FR than anywhere! The brain trust here is AMAZING. I agree with you 100 percent, excepting those who worm their way into ZotLand. (Thanks to all the moderators.)

I'd stick with David Horowitz, whose praises I first heard on the Rush Limbaugh show, over poster JTN any day. Just look at what his profile is pushing.

Knuckledragger
Since Sep 28, 2005
I've seen stupendously stupid comments on FR. But better that than the crushingly moderated sites like Lucianne.

I have requested very obscure things and within minutes, have gotten the answers WITH links!!! Absolutely correcto! That's one of the great things about F/R. I learn something on F/R about politics, history, literature, technology, and even cooking (!!!) just about every day. I wonder if the same could be said for Kos or DU. Even if one filtered out the volumes of 'hate Bush'-speak from those sites, I think not.

I have requested very obscure things and within minutes, have gotten the answers WITH links!!!That is one of the greatest advantages of FreeRepublic. No matter what happens, anywhere on the planet, and there is an actual expert who posts a full explaination, or description, or tells you why it can not possibly be what the "journalist" expert said.
A few years back Alamo Girl did a thread on the professions of Freepers. It was amazing!

Personally I think JPOD is offensive. Not because of his political views which by and large I agree with, but because of his snarky and nasty personality.
I know liberals who are wrong headed but who consistently argue politely and in good faith. I respect manners, and so I try to correct the liberals in question without insulting them or treating them like I think they are dirt. But if you disagree with JPOD he's as likely to call you an idiot and treat you as something he's scraped off his shoe as anything else. The other option of course would be for him to explain to you some detail that you were unaware of... these usually amount to something like "Well President Bush's father was president BEFORE him you know." or some other little piece of condescension.
Until recently I've been a BIG fan of NRO, and the people there. Jonah Goldberg will continue to be an increasingly important voice in conservative politics in America, and John Derbyshire cracks me up. The other contributors to NR vary from great to transcendent, but I've sworn off of the corner specifically because of JPod's tone.
As I said in an email to them, "you throw a great party, but when the guests start throwing drinks in my face it's time for me to leave."
I know I'm just one redneck, knuckle dragger and won't matter much, but I can't be the only one who was so offended by him. Or to say it in a tone more in keeping with what he's apparently accustomed, F!@@#! him..

He wasn't defending FR. It's at his discretion which of his emails to post and he picked that one. He was trying to tell America that he's better than the rednecked knuckle dragger's here because he agrees with that note.
I'm done listening to him.

You are right on target. I have stopped reading The Corner because of the twin smartasses Podhoretz and Derbyshire. Their insufferable elitism and pompousness are reminiscent of the self-assumed superiority of the Left.
To: tcostell
I don't care what they think of this site. Here is where the two Freepers exposed Dan Rather's lies and changed political history.
Has DU changed anything but their pullups?

Personally I think JPOD is offensive. Not because of his political views which by and large I agree with, but because of his snarky and nasty personality. I agree with your assessment exactly. I love NRO and The Corner, and I read it every day, but JPod is the skunk at the garden party. I've written K-Lo several times when JPod was particularly nasty, but it doesn't seem to help. I still read it since there is so much greatness there, I just skip JPod's stuff in The Corner usually. His columns are rarely so obnoxious.
