Personally I think JPOD is offensive. Not because of his political views which by and large I agree with, but because of his snarky and nasty personality.
I know liberals who are wrong headed but who consistently argue politely and in good faith. I respect manners, and so I try to correct the liberals in question without insulting them or treating them like I think they are dirt. But if you disagree with JPOD he's as likely to call you an idiot and treat you as something he's scraped off his shoe as anything else. The other option of course would be for him to explain to you some detail that you were unaware of... these usually amount to something like "Well President Bush's father was president BEFORE him you know." or some other little piece of condescension.
Until recently I've been a BIG fan of NRO, and the people there. Jonah Goldberg will continue to be an increasingly important voice in conservative politics in America, and John Derbyshire cracks me up. The other contributors to NR vary from great to transcendent, but I've sworn off of the corner specifically because of JPod's tone.
As I said in an email to them, "you throw a great party, but when the guests start throwing drinks in my face it's time for me to leave."
I know I'm just one redneck, knuckle dragger and won't matter much, but I can't be the only one who was so offended by him. Or to say it in a tone more in keeping with what he's apparently accustomed, F!@@#! him..

You are right on target. I have stopped reading The Corner because of the twin smartasses Podhoretz and Derbyshire. Their insufferable elitism and pompousness are reminiscent of the self-assumed superiority of the Left.

I love NRO and The Corner, and I read it every day, but JPod is the skunk at the garden party. I've written K-Lo several times when JPod was particularly nasty, but it doesn't seem to help. I still read it since there is so much greatness there, I just skip JPod's stuff in The Corner usually. His columns are rarely so obnoxious.
