AP breaking. US Embassy in Beirut, Helicopter Rescue Assessment Teams have landed in Beirut to figure out how to get Americans out. Anchor adds, Univ of Beirut where many American students are, is right on the beach.
Isn't that pathetic? With all her money Paris ought to be able to afford better hair extensions. Yuck!
Just wait.
Just on CNN, some non-essential American embassy personnel in Lebanon are leaving.
If true, I would say they may be reacting to massing IDF armor on the Israeli northern border and the possibility of a ground offensive in their general direction. I doubt Syria would be doing much more than guarding their own borders. I highly doubt they would have the nerve to start launching anything at Israel from Syrian soil.
Good catch, Royal!! I'm putting that on the Sunday thread and will give you full attribution.
Perhaps someone tell Yahoo trave what's going on.

could be bluster, but with American Marines in Beruit right now and with Syria mobilizing i think things are going downhill fast. I think 75/25 IDF goes into Lebanon, 40/60 this puppy goes regional and 5/95 global conflagaration
Destroying the Lebanese infrastructure is only so useful to the IDF.
The question is, will the Israeli government actually follow through with the necessary actions to stop hezbollah from launching rockets into Israel.
Can't disagree. But the air strikes and the (limited) destruction of infrastructure are preludes to an invasion which is certain to come to Southern Lebanon. As for the Bekka Valley, time will tell but I think so since it seems obvious that a retreat by Hezbollah would be in that direction.
You have javascript turned on? VERY JS heavy :) Dunno why it wouldn't work besides that though
That's the same overlay, draped on what appears to be a 10 meter per pixel elevation model.
Nice!
Thanks!
Maybe Fox can hire her as a war correspondent and send her to southern Lebanon.
Things seem to be moving pretty quickly.
(Go Israel Go! Slap 'em down Hezbullies.)
Yep, all Java on. I'll try it again.
Douglas Urbanski, who has inside Vatican contacts, reports that the views expressed by Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, who issued the statement while the Pope was on vacation, are renegade views and asks the question that needs to be asked: Does the Pope back Sodano's statement? Urbanski points to this story on the rift between Pope Benedict XVI and Sodano. He'll have more tonight as a guest host on the Rusty Humphries show. Tune in.
A dirty trick indeed if Benedict didn't authorize this response.
