Most Americans Plan to Vote for Democrats (including 24% of "conservatives" (AP-Ipsos Poll)
Breitbart ^ | July 14, 2006 | DONNA CASSATA

Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November. With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.

Further complicating the GOP outlook to turn things around is a solid percentage of liberals, moderates and even conservatives who say they'll vote Democratic.

The election ultimately will be decided in 435 House districts and 33 Senate contests.

But a Democratic takeover of either the House or Senate would be disastrous for the president, leaving both his agenda for the last two years in office and the chairmanship of investigative committees in the hands of the opposition party. To seize control of Congress, the Democrats must displace 15 Republicans from House seats and six Republicans from the Senate.

The AP-Ipsos survey asked 789 registered voters if the election for the House were held today, would they vote for the Democratic or Republican candidate in their district. Democrats were favored 51 percent to 40 percent.

Not surprisingly, 81 percent of self-described liberals said they would vote for the Democrat. Among moderates, though, 56 percent backed a Democrat in their district and almost a quarter of conservatives _ 24 percent _ said they will vote Democratic.

ANYONE VOTING FOR A DEMOCRAT HAS NO RIGHT TO CALL THEMSELVES A CONSERVATIVE. NO REAL CONSERVATIVE WOULD EVER VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT.

What about Zell Miller? :D

Anyway, this poll, like so many others, is just B.S. and mostly wishful thinking on the media's part. I would sure like to see the exact way the questions were posed.

I'd be willing to bet this poll was conducted in a major liberal city, while 'fly-over country' was ignored completely.

I like Zell Miller very much.

BUT we need more Republicans in Congress to maintain Republican control. Voting for a Dem, ANY Dem threatens that. We need a supermajority, to keep the Dems from filibustering everything the Republicans try to do.

The point is not to panic, but to avoid being complacent and make sure to get out the vote and make sure to vote for Republican candidates.

I am....LOL.

Look, most seats, in both Houses are not in jeopardy. We have a pretty good chance of picking up a few, here and there, whilst loosing less than we can retain and pick up. So, unless something VERY weird happens, I am still saying that the GOP keeps a majority in both Houses, which WILL drive the lefties nuts! Oh happy day! :-)

almost a quarter of conservatives _ 24 percent _ said they will vote Democratic.

I don't believe this poll because of this statement, it's loaded with ringers. No conservative will vote Rat. They might stay home or (rarely)vote a third party or spoiler, but no Rats. The best Rat chance is election fraud, not BS polls.

Are you saying it's better to have more Dems in Congress, because that reduces "pork"?

Calm down people - this is an AP-IPSOS poll. Leans heavily Left and not exactly the most reliable polling outfit. I think the results are garbage in garbage out. As far I am concerned, the only valid poll is the one in November.

(The Palestinian terrorist regime is the crisis and Israel's fist is the answer.)

B.S.! I am not happy with what the Conservatives have handled things in Washington DC. Nevertheless, I do not care if Hell freezes over. I will never vote for the party that undermines our President during a World War. Dream on Libs... Oh excuse me I mean keep smoking that water bong dudes!

You didn't answer my question:

It's the DEMS who are the ones who push useless spending.

The choice is Dems or Republicans.

What is the matter with people?!

You should be asking "What's the matter with the Republican Party?" They have betrayed Conservatives, and people are angry! They brought it on themselves!!
