Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmed Fatfat called the airport strikes a "general act of war," Thursday saying they had nothing to do with Hizbullah, but were instead an attack against the country's "economic interests," especially its tourism industry, CNN reported on its Web Site.

There are Lebanese who look forward to it. The Lebanese armed forces aren't up to the challenge of expelling the Iranian armed proxy which is Hizbollah.

Lesson here for Israel and the US - those who withdraw before the mission is complete are destined to repeat the mission.

The reason Israel didn't expel Hizbollah before was that Syrian troops occupied Lebanon. This solution to the problem has been on the proverbial days are numbered list since Syria was more or less forced to leave Lebanon by foreign pressure and internal political and economic problems.

If he's worried about tourism, there are plenty of Israelis who would love to take advantage of Lebanon's facilities on their way to Damascus...

Yeah sure its a general act of war. But just pack up the Hizballah and send them away to Syria and the Israelies will end this General Act of War as generally as they started it. The central government of Lebanon is too weak to control the largest ethnic/religious group, never mind to do mass expulsion. BTW, this government was put in power by Western pressure a while ago.
Hezbollah is the main organization of Lebanese Shiites who live in the south. Its military wing is only a part of the organization which is responsible for basic services and local self government.
OK, so we pushed Syria out, now we are undermining the central government which we put in place, and then we are taking on the largest and well organized ethnic group?
If Israel cannot control Palestinians, what is the use to extend the power to other areas? I have impression that some do not have word "overextension" in their vocabulary.

Lebanon is (or at least was) a popular tourist destination. For example there are many Polish tourists now being evacuated through Syria.
Lebanon has glorious historical monuments, nice beaches, beautiful mountains GOOD for skiing!
The country consists of several ethnic/religious communities. Catholic Maronites, Armenians, Shiites in the south, Sunnies and others.

Now, where have I heard that before?

Get Syria to get Hizballah to stop this $h!+ and this will all be over. Now, where have I heard that before? Before Syria got pushed out from Lebanon (using Orange revolution technique) it was much easier to deal with Hezbollah through Syria.
Now the cat is out of the bag and Lebanon can revert to the chaos of civil war before Syrian intervention.

(That should have been on the minds of the government prior to letting Hizbullsh!t attack.)
You described the tourism industry pretty well, then you mess it up by making the above inane comment! Even Hezbollah said they never mentioned their plans to the Lebanese government! Even if they did, they couldn't stop Hezbollah.

Syria thanks you for parroting their exact propaganda points! I would suggest you don't repeat that garbage in front of any Lebanese. It wouldn't go well for you.

Syria thanks you for parroting their exact propaganda points! I do not know what Syria says about it. It just seems logical to me.

This is not a good argument. Say to a Muslim that Islam is a heresy and "it wouldn't go well for you." So?

I know it's not PC to critisize Israel, but I had the same
thought. Lebanon has become a tourist destination like it was years ago. Is it possible Israel wants to boomb them
back to nothing so they won't be able to recover?
To: Lori675
Yep, it is about the strawberries. They thought they had me fooled with the strawberries, but I was onto them. Ha ha ha.

Sure, that's it, they are afraid of the competition of white sandy beaches and good falafel with fresh tahini. Pay no attention to the 100 rockets a day murdering children, those are just a smoke screen. The Israelis probably sneaked into Lebanon and fired them all off, for weeks now, just so they'd have an excuse to wreck the Four Seasons Baalbek, where all the rockstars go to party. Then the rockstars will have no choice but to party in Jerusalem, baby! Such fiendishly clever hotelers are those craft-ee Joos...
