"I have big teeth. I lisp. My eyes disappear when I smile. My voice is funny. I don't sing like Judy Garland. I don't dance like Cyd Charisse. But women identify with me. And while men desire Cyd Charisse, they'd take me home to meet Mom."I couldn't have described better than she did why she was the perfect wife in so many great roles.
If only there were just a few like her in film today.

I always liked her. She was real American.
If you haven't been to Ojai, I suggest you go. It's a nice little town. Hot in the summer.

I met her about 10 years ago. Such a nice lady. I live in the hometown of actor Jimmy Stewart. She was at the Jimmy Stewart museum. I loved "The Glenn Miller Story".

She was a FRiend of Ronald Reagan and if I recall, he appointed her to a committee on aging.

I have a vague recollection that June Allyson said it was her late husband Dick Powell who talked Ronald Reagan out of liberalism and into conservatism. I don't know if that's true, but I think it is true that she and Ronald Reagan were good friends, which says a lot about her IMHO.
And ditto on the Glenn Miller story -- one of the great bios.

Amazing woman. The daughter speaking of
her mother's demise was the adopted child
of June and Dick Powell, who were married
for 18 years until his death in 1960's. I
recall she had a lot of problems with her
own mother over money the after Dick Powell
died.

When I was kid growing up she was one of my favorites. This is one of those obits where you say "I did not know she/he was still alive."
