Pa. races could set table for 2008 By Salena Zito TRIBUNE-REVIEW Sunday, July 9, 2006
Welcome to Pennsylvania, known as "The Cradle of America" because the Founders drafted and signed the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.
Fast-forward 230 years and it is about to become another national cradle - a political one -- for the 2006 midterm elections.

You're welcome! Would you like to be on the IREY/murtha ping list?
Also, in relation to your post #21, I will ping you to the thread where Gleason was being discussed. Would love to hear your take on it.
Being so close, Every Republican candidate should point to New Jersey as an example of what happens when you elect Democrats.
Vote in Democrats you get New Jersey
Most interesting read. I'm more interested in the state congressional races for the state house, since our college grad challenger, Mark Harris, deposed the Republican incumbent, tax and spender Tom Stevenson. Now I want to see Mark Harris defeat the Dem challenger. We've been getting a higher Democratic enrollment in the South Hills suburbs of Pittsburgh PA, since the Dems with their union jobs, state and government civil service jobs, can afford to move here. Everyone else is getting downsized.
Exactly. I've been complaining for years that we (eastern PA) get all these tax refugees from New Jersey (and New York) and the influx of all these people results in higher taxes. Most of the tax increase is because of increasing population with the resulting necessary new schools, more police, better sewer systems etc.
But also the new people vote democrat which in effect means they are voting for the higher taxes they escaped from in New Jersey. I was working at a craft show a couple years ago and the vendor couple next to me were bad mouthing PA and how we need to do this and that and everything else and I finally told them if you want to live in Jersey go back to Jersey. A good chunk of the Jersey people who move here look down on the locals. But if you don't put up with their crap you're a small minded backwoods bigot. After all, you must be a republican.
Then there are those with weekend homes in the Poconos and request absentee ballots be sent to their New Jersey home. When requesting they claim the PA house is their primary residence and county election officials send out the absentees.
Fast Eddie tried to disenfranchise the military vote by dragging out Nader's ballot status so long that the ballots we no longer valid and new ones "had to be printed". He then refused to approve the same voting extension he approved of for his Dem cronies in the primary. He would have gotten away with his plot had not a family filed a lawsit against him and Sean Hannity publicly held his feet to the fire the night before the court case. At the end of the day there were still many disenfranchised military votes that were impossible to be returned within deadline - through absolutely NO fault of the military.
I also heard he's having some kind of "appreciation dog and pony show" and National Guard personnel are basically being told by superiors in so many words they have to attend. Just like the Klintoons used to do.
We have a huge service population and none of them are fooled by him signing funeral legislation. It means absolutely nothing.
