Swann asks Rendell to switch jobs By Michael Miller LEADER TIMES Friday, July 7, 2006
Lynn Swann wants to trade jobs with Gov. Ed Rendell.
Swann, who worked for ABC sports for 28 years, told a crowd of supporters in Kittanning yesterday that he's looking to become the next governor, and that the governor can become a full-time broadcaster. Rendell has a side gig as a commentator for a cable network covering the Philadelphia Eagles.
"Come November, vote for me for governor, and make him the broadcaster full-time," Swann said. The Republican candidate for governor spoke to a small crowd assembled in front of the courthouse annex yesterday afternoon.

we'll soon see if the folks in the Commonwealth are as dumb as the folks in N.J.
Should be interesting.
Ill be voting for him but unfortunately he wont win. He has been running a STUPID campaign.
Rendell can't catch a football........
You've gotta be freakin' kidding me.
Ain't that the truth, but I'm optimistic that he can turn it around. I saw Swann at a local fair last weekend, and he seems like a decent guy.
Anybody but Fast Eddie.
Nope. It's for real. Hard hitting analysis, too - just what you would expect from him.
good grief.
Ed Rendell is one of the sleaziest pols to ever come down the pike. Swann may be a political neophyte, but surely he would be an improvement on Fast Eddie.
Courtesy of Comcast Cable, recipient of one of the biggest chunks of corporate welfare ever to come down the pike. Their glossy new high-rise Philly headquarters will likely have a commemorative Spendell Lobby.
On the positive side, since the Governor's race will be a blowout for Rendell, there may be less pressure to "get out the dead vote" in Philly. This would benefit Santorum, since Philly will go 90 to 10 against him. In order to win, he has to overcome the 200,000 vote advantage Casey would have coming out of Philly.
Is that a JOKE about him having a part-time gig??? Oy VEY!!
Why do you think it will be a blow-out for Rendell??
Swann is running an abysmal campaign. He is also associated in many people's minds with the group of state GOP pols that were thrown in the primaries. And, contrary to the conventional wisdom that he would cut into the Philly African-American vote, he hasn't created a ripple here. It's what you get when you put an untested (since there was no primary) amateur against a veteran campaigner like Rendell.
There's ALWAYS hope.
Not for this particular race.
Suzy,
Marcus doesn't have a clue what he is talking about - he's just repeating word for word what idiots in the Philadelphia media tell him. Rendell won't win a landslide - it will be close, either way.
I wonder what the condi fans have to say about that..
