TRENTON, N.J. -- An agreement has been worked out that will result in a new budget for the state of New Jersey, sources told NewsChannel 4 on Thursday.
Gov. Jon Corzine and lawmakers are still hammering out details on how to spend the penny sales tax increase. Indications are at least half the revenue will go for property tax relief this year with larger amounts going for property tax relief in later years.
If lawmakers can begin acting on this deal, Atlantic City casinos could be open sometime this weekend and full state services would resume as early as Monday.

How to SPEND the tax INCREASE?????? I thought it would go to the DEFICIT!! Idiotic people.
Gym memberships and sleeping in a hospital bed to name just two. The sheeple of Jerzee get hosed again. The corruption is so deep I'm not sure we will ever get out of it.
Such a shock. Corzine was always going to get his way. I am very glad I don't live in New Jersey.
Democrats raising taxes - I'm shocked...
Did you hear Rush say yesterday, that in NJ, they tax a pack of cigarettes $2.53...and that they are going to raise that to $2.75 a PACK!!
My goodness...I am glad that I don't smoke...but MORE glad that I don't live in NJ..and smoke...
Any agreement will mean NJ residents taxes are going up.
He found the way to lower taxes. Raise other taxes more.
No previous promises to real taxpayers need be fulfilled.
Well, I live in New Jersey and I resent Corzine's tantrum-taking attitude. New Jersey is finished.
and that "property tax relief" is just another way to pay off the NJEA - so the sheeple don't see the full impact of their school tax hikes.
