FReeper Canteen ~ Tell Us About Your Military Service ~ July 6, 2006
Ms. Behavin & Old Sarge | 06 JULY 2006 | Ms. Behavin & Old Sarge

Posted on 07/05/2006 7:04:50 PM PDT by Old Sarge

Army?

Navy?

Air Force?

Marines?

Coast Guard?

Why did you choose that particular branch?

Where did you go to Basic Training or Boot Camp?

What is the name of your unit? (Division?)

What is their (your) mascot?

Tell us how much you loved your DI!

How long were you at Boot Camp/Basic Training, before you questioned the parentage of the senior Drill Sergeant? How long were you in service before you realized that the instructors were right in all that they taught you?

Your first landing on an aircraft carrier

Your first parachute jump

The heaviest vehicle you got to drive

The largest weapon you got to use

Did you serve before email?

Did you have a personal nickname?

It is our pleasure and honor to be here for our Troops, past, present and future...
and especially during this Week, the 4th of July we remember that we owe our freedom to you.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice, and God bless you.

A gentle reminder from Ms.B:
Please, no politics in The Canteen.
The Troops need a place to rest, relax and relate, and that place is The Canteen.
Have fun and play nice!

In the hight 60s and climbing. Don't think we have it cool because humidity is 95%, making it feel kind of slimy out there.
60's? WOW! that would be nice.
I think it cooled down to around 85 or so last night and was 88 when I left the house this morning at 6:00am. I think we will hit around 95 or so today.
Humidity was around 90-95% or so this morning.

I really enjoy the summers up North.
My wife is from just outside of Boston.

Cordially,
GE

Two storks are sitting in their nest: a father stork and baby stork. The
baby stork is crying and crying and father stork is trying to calm him.

"Don't worry, son. Your mother will come back. She's only bringing people
babies and making them happy."

The next night, it's father's turn to do the job. Mother and son are sitting
in the nest, the baby stork is crying.

The mother is saying, "Son, your father will be back as soon as possible,
but now he's bringing joy to new mommies and daddies."

A few days later, the stork's parents are desperate: their son is absent
from the nest all night! Shortly before dawn, he returns and the parents
ask him where he's been all night.

The baby stork says, "Aw, Nowhere. Just scaring the heck out of college students!"

"btw, thank you for your service" =====> i "did my bit" as a vet, unlike all too many of FR-folks, who did ZILCH & still sit around carping, complaining, criticizing & "taking potshots at" those who did serve. they make me GAG! (to readers: should you doubt what i'm saying, come over to the WBTS threads & read the hate-FILLED,arrogant,MEAN-spirited, ignorant, REVISIONIST, bilge that is directed at some of us vets.)

we got another HEAVY rainstorm last night, with a BIG "sound & light show".

for Independence Day, i had PLANNED to go to DC to see the fireworks, listen to the concert, etc but then i got "scared off" by the constant radio reports of "severe weather", so i stayed home,"watched the sound & light show" from my balcony, BBQ-ed ribs & chicken, for several of the OLDER folks in my building, & "kicked back" afterward. NOT a bad way to spend the 4th!
