The ONLY way that we will EVER solve the crisis that is our Southern Border is Mexico FINALLY becoming a prosperous country.

If Mexico achieves an economy where it's citizens are able to earn enough money to live on WHY would they then attempt to travel on foot across a desert? The answer is they WON'T.

There is a reason why we don't have a CANADIAN illegal immigration problem. It's because in Canada, Candians can live the way they want too. It's not so in Mexico.

And beyond that, we don't want a committed leftist on our Southern border, given that Chavez would INSTANTLY have an ally 1000 miles closer to the US than before.

I've read that is why Reagon created NAFTA. I don't beleive its working. Too much corruption and influence from the drug dealers. Canadians are pretty good people, even better if you could eliminate the liberal garbage they are being fed.

Chavez has allies in the US already.

You are going to single handedly take the fun out of this for the extremists. For you are spot on correct. Only question is: how to do it? Massive US government aid ala NAFTA, CAFTA, and the Maquilodora program (which have helped but not fixed); or brutal and inhumane sanctions? Maybe a new War On different Drugs. From the conservative aspect, I have not seen liberty expansion and economic growth from any of the aforementioned programs. Military intervention must be a last resort. What lies between the current situation and military intervention I do not know. I do believe that the tension and animosity is not good.

Another factor: Mexico has a porous southern border with Central America, which is in EXTREME poverty.

Note that most of Calderon's support comes from the northern half and the Yucatan, which are the most prosperous parts of Mexico. The southern part is Obrador country.

On the other hand, maybe having an openly leftist thug running Mex. might force congress to admit that Mex. really is not our ally, and do something sincere about the current/continuing invasion?

BTW, we have plenty of illegals from Canada, they even get deported occasionally, they are just not so easily spotted as the Mex's.

We have illegals here from every country in the world, some are just harder to see since they either make a real effort to blend in, or to stay out of sight.

Only the Mex. seem to think they can sneak in and them use their presence to DEMAND special treatment.
