What's the deal with Beckham??? I think he spent more effort on his hair than he did his game. I just don't see what the big deal is about him??
I am sorry, great athletes are defined by moments not just resumes. He didn't step it up.

England is OUT and I am bummed! Have to root for the Italians now but I don't think anyone is going to beat the hosts.

Why are so aggressive toward me? it is just a game. We are expressing opinions here and not fighting. My favorite team was Brazil and today they played a horrible game and that why France won, in fact most teams in this tournament would have beaten Brazil with the awful performance they had today both players and coaches. Despite all this, I am not upset, and unlike you, I am not getting nasty nor aggressive.

"Hawaii was a British Colony at one time, it was founded by British explorer James Cook."
Yes, and who was also slain and eaten by the same Hawaiians in 1779. Let's just say his flesh was separated from his bones because the Hawaiians believed your mana or spirit resides in your bones.
At that time Hawaii was known to Europe as the Sandwich Isles named after the Earl of Sandwich. Hawaiian kings and princes also visited London and were regaled there.
For a brief period there was also a Russian fort on the island of Kauai. Hawaii was a convenient stop-off and trading point for the whaling vessels of many a country.Missionaries from the New England states eventually brought Hawaii into the U.S. orb.
It was with cannons from U.S. ships that King Kamehameha was able to defeat the kings of the other Hawaiian islands and become the first solidifying ruler of all the islands.
Hawaiian royalty also defoliated the forests of its sandlewood trees for trade and furthered the extinction of many birds to make their luxurious feathered capes. So much for the myth of the natives living in harmony with the environment.
Sorry to get off topic - Let's get back to what's really important - the World Cup. Now if Germany can only get past its nemesis - Italy !

They did not play a horrible game. They were merely beaten by the better team.

Someone on the England squad made the comment last week that this would the last chance for the current England players, as the next World Cup will be played in South Africa and the heat will work against North European teams.
I hope they replace Eriksson now.

Today's winners should be England and Brazil. I mean so far this World Cup has been completely devoid of surprises!
Wrong!! I thought Brazil would be shoo-ins too, but the Eng/Por was too close to call.

Forget it, I'm sick of comparing the Germany of today to the NAzis -- Germany's so far away from that they're like two different countries on two different planets. We've forgiven the Frenchies for the Napoleonic wars, it's time to stop blaming current Germans for the sins of their forefathers, 60 years is long enough (though mind you, yesterday was the 90th anniversery of the start of the battle of the Somme and there is only one survivor of that battle still alive, so both WWI and WWII are slowly fading into the history books == to be forgiven but not forgotten.

Ah, England, gotta love it. Though, normally, when I do sing it with my mates in angleterre, we normally go " da da da, vindaloo, vindaloo, vindaloo, ENGLAND!!!" :-P
