Palestinians: Chemical warfare if Israel invades Gaza
WND ^ | June 26, 2006 | Aaron Klein

Posted on 06/27/2006 2:48:32 PM PDT by Nachum

JERUSALEM – If Israel launches a ground assault in the Gaza Strip, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group will attack Israelis with chemical and biological weapons the group has developed, according to a pamphlet distributed yesterday by the Brigades.

But sources in the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, speaking on condition of anonymity, said while the group is attempting to acquire biological and chemical agents, their current capabilities in the field still are mostly primitive.

"With the help of Allah, we are pleased to say that we succeeded in developing over 20 different types of biological and chemical weapons, this after a three-year effort," said the Al Aqsa statement, which was released yesterday and made national headlines here today.

"We say to (Prime Minister Ehud) Olmert and (Defense Minister Amir) Peretz: Your threats of invasion do not frighten us. We will surprise you with new weapons you have not faced until now. As soon as an IDF soldier sets foot on Gazan land, we will respond with a new weapon."

The group claimed it was working to add chemical and biological agents to missiles that are regularly launched from the Gaza Strip aimed at nearby Jewish communities.

The Al Aqsa Brigades, the declared "resistance wing" of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, is responsible for scores of suicide bombings, shooting attacks and rockets launched from Gaza.

Israeli security officials told WND Al Aqsa's claim of developing more than 20 kinds of chemical and biological agents is "rhetoric." They said Israel has information the group in the past has conducted low-level experiments adding some kinds of chemicals, including cyanide, to suicide belts, but that Palestinian groups currently don't have "serious" chemical or biological capabilities.

They also said Palestinian terror groups currently do not have capabilities to add chemical or biological agents to missiles but that there was a fear some countries, particularly Iran, may be assisting in such efforts.

Sources in the Al Aqsa Brigades told WND the group was experimenting with chemical agents. They claimed they currently have in their weapons arsenal certain agents that can be thrown or shot at civilians in canisters, but they declined to name the specific agents.

One Al Aqsa source said the group's work in Gaza so far has been limited mostly to Al Aqsa members who are studying chemistry at local universities where biological agents are not available and chemical agents are limited.

They said "outside parties" were helping the group add agents to missiles, but would not comment on the current status of the program or name the outside parties.

Palestinian terror groups in the past have discussed adding chemical and biological agents to suicide bomb belts. Mahmoud Abu Tir, a Hamas legislator, was arrested by Israel in the early 1990s and accused of plotting to poison Israeli water supplies.

In a recent WND interview, Abu Tir refused to confirm or deny he was involved in the plot. In 2002, Israeli security forces foiled a plan by Hamas to poison the soda fountain in a popular Jerusalem cafe.

IT's been said by many here, proving the point. The first thing I thought when I read the subject of the thread on the main page was "So, some of Iraq's WMD went to Syria and kept right on going into the hands of the Palestinians. This doesn't help the democrats either. Chemical and Biological weapons have tags and markers that with close analysis it can be proven where they came from. And when the arrow points to Iraq, how will anyone defend it. I guess it's "Old" stuff the Palestinians have been sitting on for 15 years. They keep it hidden under Arafats body. The smell masks the odors from the weapons.

"why did the u.s. ask israel to give up gaza, and more importantly why did israel do it?"

Because the Bush administration thought that we could earn some goodwill and PR from the muslim populations around the globe. Pure fallacy. I am a Republican through and through but this was a horrible decision doomed from the start and now we see the result. It was interesting that just over a month after this US policy was announced, we saw the worst hurricane ever hitting the gulf coast. Coincidence? Maybe, but somehow I doubt it.

What a great idea. And force the rest into Syria, then Egypt and Syria would be forced to help their muslim Arab Palestinian (squatter) brothers they've been whining about for so many decades but not helping. Sounds like a plan. :)

Whoever you are, true or troll, I ask you what in the ?? are you doing blaming us for Ariel Sharon's plan to redraw Israel's borders into more defensible ones by giving back Gaza? Go pound sand.

Looks like the Palis shot off their collective mouths too soon. Israel has been preparing for a Chem attack for years. now that the Cat's out of the Bag, the only thing the Palis will accomplish is kill their own folks after deployment..........

They are just dumber than dirt.

Go Israel!

Kick Ass!

Take Names.

No Allah of you, Achmed.

"Threatening to use gas on the Jews? If that doesn't strike a nerve, I don't know what will."

Yeah no kidding. Arabs talk about Jews as if they are rats or lice just like the Nazi's, when in reality the Jews have contributed more financially and technology then any other culture on earth in the last 60 years since they have been a nation. It confirms my biblical belief that their is a spiritual battle happening as well as the physical. Christ summed it up best by saying you'll know them by their works. One advocates peace, takes in another culture supplying jobs and land while the other works for destruction. Sounds like good vs. bad, Christ vs. anti-Christ, God vs satanic to me...

They couldn't use nukes in such a small localized area.

Very true. The use of CBN by either side would seem logically ruled out. Islamists are not all that rational however and some attempt at chemical warfare is possible, followed by an Israeli conventional retaliation. I just cannot see even the most radical using biological as no one has really figured out how to in such an area without killing as many of one's own as of the enemy.

I am so sick of this type of savage, barbaric idiocy. Between the iranian schizoid and the korean hairball...it is beyond belief. And now this. Wipe ALL these bastards off the face of the earth. Then maybe we can have some peace and quiet.

I am no troll. I have an opinion that both the US & Israel has been far too soft trying to negotiate with terrorists (PLO). This has always failed and always will. Offering more concessions such as land emboldens these idiots further.

The point is Israel could and should have stayed in Gaza and given stronger ultimatums 10 years ago to the PLO, not given Arafat the friggin peace prize for 30 years of terrorism with a defined goal of the destruction of Israel.

Better still. . . locate their WMDs. . .and hit the place with CONVENTIONAL bombs. . . and let the Paleoswinians experience their own chemical weapons first-hand. . .

Your logic seems accurate. Let's face it, it would be real easy for mustard gas to be created (been around since WWI) and be dispersed in a major metro anywhere in the world. The Jihadists want more recruits to win a long-term engagement. Killing thousands of Muslims in a major metro is not the way to accomplish this goal.

They also seem to conduct fiery explosions on specific targets that are symbolic of Western freedom and power such as travel and financial sectors as it draws the most media attention to their cause.

I believe it is doable.. the largest mini nuke yield is 5 Kilotons (5000 Tons of )TNT with a blast radius of 1 mile... bury it 50 ft into the ground before impact detonation and you have one sweet beautiful mushroom with enough force to change perspectives in a whole lot of mustafas, saddams and alim khalis

I fart in your general direction...

Right. That's surely one. Another, more deadly: raise their arms. More deadly still: take-off/throw their shoes. I wonder what the other 17 are?
