Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is joking about his police detainment at the airport yesterday for carrying Viagra in his luggage.
"I've been racking my brain. I'm trying to figure out how Bob Dole's luggage got on my airplane," Limbaugh clowned as he opened his national program today. "I told the doctor, I said, 'Look, I'm worried about the next election, not ... .' A misunderstanding. Now, things are what they are."
Former Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas is well-known for his use and endorsement of Viagra, a male sexual-enhancement drug.
The host then changed subjects to discuss his visit Friday to the White House, but later opened his second hour with more jokes.
"The people at Customs were as nice as they could be. They just didn't believe me when I told them that I got those pills at the Clinton Library gift shop, and they told me at the Clinton Library gift shop that it was just blue M&Ms. ... I know a lot of people who don't even need Viagra. [They] just look at themselves in the mirror and the problem's taken -- many of them in Washington, many of them Republicans, too."
Limbaugh was held up for more than three hours at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities found a bottle of pills in his possession prescribed to someone else.
"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Palm Beach County Sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller told the Associated Press. "He said he had the Viagra in his possession for his use and that he did obtain it from his doctors."
Investigators confiscated the pills, and Limbaugh was released without being charged, though the sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office.
"We believe there may be a second degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller, a former FBI agent, said.
Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, issued a statement noting a doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes."
In April, Limbaugh and the Florida state attorney, Democrat Barry Krischer, reached a settlement in a long-running prescription-drug investigation of the conservative radio giant, who termed the matter a political witch hunt as well as a "fishing expedition" by prosecutors.
Under the agreement, a single charge of doctor shopping was to be dismissed in 18 months if Limbaugh continues to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and a half years for back pain.
"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping," said Black at the time, "and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.
"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the state of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of 'supervision' and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won."
Id like to know which Government official violated Rushs privacy by running to the press with this story.
I just googled "caverject."
It's injected into side of ones penis!
I don't think I would ever want to have sex that badly.
Is that right, Karl? Are you the judge in the case?
Sorry, but you can be a conservative without sitting in church. I find your arrogance and bias disgusting.
Any ED drug that requires an injection 'there', is self-defeating as far as I'm concerned.
Why yes I am. It is illegal to travel with prescription drugs without the bottle they came in in this country. Why should Rush be exempt?
I now know why he went soft on Daryn Kagan.
If you had read the story, you would know that the pills WERE in the bottle they came in, "judge".
Had he been detained for more than four hours, he would have had to consult his doctor.
If they took his pills, does that mean that Rush spent a sexless night???
It's not as if Rush is a 'hardened' criminal....
My ex-wife used to meet her boss, now her husband, at the church while I was working shift work to support her and my kids. This was while we were married
I've seen a couple others use the Church as the launching pad and cover for new romances that trashed their standing marriages.
Don't equate "Church" with "Conservative" or "family values" with me or a lot of others here. I don't need to sit in Church ever Sunday or thump a Bible to care for my country and society.
I read your homepage. You need to take yourself a little less seriously
Oh, that's classic. That is a winning statement. Big Nanny. Oh, man have you hit a game winning dinger there. I have to remember to use this from now on. Please allow all of us FReepers to use it when you patent the statement!
Oh, I am sorry, I read the story titled: "Rush Limbaugh, Sex Tourist"
"Talent on loan from Pfizer"
Well, it was big of you to admit your ignorance.
Gets the NYT treason off the front page, donchaknow?
What a steaming pile of horse crap! Guy that means if your a single orphan athiest you can't be a conservative? Who are you? Pat Robertson?
