Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is reportedly "on the warpath about his networks recent ratings slide and has given notice to staffers that hes willing to clean house, according to a report in Broadcasting & Cable.
The cable news channels overall prime-time ratings are off 8 percent in the second quarter of this year, and down 22 percent in viewers ages 25 to 54. The first quarter was also disappointing.
Rival CNN is also down, but only 2 percent overall in the second quarter and 18 percent in the 25-54 age group.
Ailes is said to be "fuming over what he views as complacency among staffers, according to B&C.
He feels production values are slipping and bookers arent aggressive enough, relying too heavily on the same faces.
A full-page "Now Hiring ad that ran recently in a trade magazine asked, "Can you make the cut?
Broadcasting & Cable reports that a Fox staffer said the question was not addressed to outside applicants. "That was aimed inside.
An Ailes spokesman declared: "Anyone who displays launch-type intensity will continue to have a job at Fox News. Those who dont will not. And that includes talent.
Well, last I heard she was on maternity leave. But that was an awful long time ago. Like a couple of years maybe.
I guess if she decided to raise her children I'm with her, but I sure miss her on that show.
His wife had a stroke and I think after that sort of scaled down his on-air time.
After I posted that, I researched Dykstra. Apparently he's reformed his smokeless tobacco ways, including making PSAs about the dangers of a pinch between the cheek and gums.
Roger,
Showing the President 'live' in a small window while one of your employees, on the main screen, is telling us what GWB is saying is an instant turn-off.
I cannot listen to Alan Colmes one more minute, no matter who the guest is! (after tonight, because Michael Steele, running for Senator from Maryland will be in the New York studio.)
Here's something from Fox. FWIW.

Go for it!
Dump Geraldo, Greta, and Alan Colmes and it would suit me. The rest I can tolerate.
Lean Left=lose viewers.
I couldn't think of her name, but I knew everybody would know who I meant. I also for got juan williams, bob beckel, weasely clark, and a few others.
ditto
Whether or not there was a rape and whether or not one party is guilty or not simply doesn't affect my life. It might be interesting but it belongs on Court TV or crime shows or spike TV. The endless "alerts" that are not alerts are a joke and very tiresome.
My point exactly. You perhaps said it better than I did.
I would also suggest putting the Wall Street Journal Report on at more convenient times and make it an hour long. Also Dr. Krauthammer should permanently replace Mara. Chicken Little (We are all going to die any minute = Shep) after hysterically misreporting Katrina should have been replaced a long time ago.
Excellent article. Thanks for posting it.
"Glittery eyes"? I always thought that was the nose candy.
How about giving their guests more than 2 minutes to get their point across?
agree. Drop some of the crap and spend more time on issues that affect us all. Avoid the tabloid stuff unless specific facts come to light. A breaking news alert that highlights last week's developments is an insult and it's getting really tiresome.
Orreilly is their biggest ratings draw.
Eww say it ain't so.
Thanks for that link. What a touching story, and so well written, too.
It sounds like his wife suffered a flight-related deep-vein thrombosis that moved through her heart to her brain. British Airways warned us about that on their in-flight video system.
I love the renamed version of Susan!
And their biggest pain in the ass.
