CHICAGO -- A federal official said seven people have been arrested in connection with the early stages of a plot to attack Chicago's Sears Tower and other buildings in the U.S.
NBC News has learned from federal law-enforcement sources Thursday that the FBI has arrested about half a dozen men in Miami as part of an ongoing terrorism operation.
The men, part of a radical black Muslim group, were planning terror acts in Miami and Chicago, the officials said. An FBI informant infiltrated the group, according to the source, neutralizing the threat.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush acknowledged on Wednesday that the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where three detainees committed suicide, has damaged the U.S. image abroad and said it should be shut down.
But he said a plan for relocating the prisoners was needed first and he also was awaiting a Supreme Court decision about the forum for handling detainee cases.
"I'd like to close Guantanamo, but I also recognize that we're holding some people there that are darn dangerous and that we better have a plan to deal with them in our courts," Bush told a news conference in the White House Rose Garden.

It was there at the point where I copy/pasted the first three paragraphs. The article says it was "UPDATED: 12:50 am CDT ", and probably then is when the reference was deleted. Part of the value of FR is the preservation of original articles from "historical revision".
The arrested people are evidently Black and also Muslim, but evidently the news media do not currently want to say anything about their being "Black Muslims", as in "Nation of Islam"
Will the MSM treat this as no big deal because they didn't actually blow up the Sears Tower...(like the sarin cannisters in Iraq). Or will they say it's 'entrapment' and civil rights were violated? Or will they turn it into a racial issue -- poor, downtrodden, clueless, young, black males with no hope...no wonder they were easily led astray! Warrant or no warrant, if the feds listened in on their phone calls, the NYTimes will be upset!

I think the "Black Muslim" term is confusing, because there are actually several groups that think of themselves, or at any rate are referred to, as "Black Muslims," and Mohammed X's group (the original Black Muslims, NOI) is only one of them. There are all sorts of little splinter groups of prison-formed black males who follow a kind of Islam, adopt a particular style of dress that they believe to be "Islamic," etc. who are not part of the "official" NOI.
There used to be a bizarre group I would see on the streets that actually declared they were the lost tribe of Israel, which had of course, now turned up again as Muslims. They dressed in truly bizarre costumes that even central wardrobe of a Cecil B. DeMille movie would have rejected. They would have been funny, except for their preaching that all Jews and whites should be put to the sword. The hatred was less than funny.
