"Thanks for standing up against Pence's absurdity."
His plan is the best out there....with the exception that illegals can eventually apply for and get US citizenship.
Too bad it's not exactly a "footnote".....in the bill, but a nasty gaping loophole.
I would not support this bill as currently written.
Still, I would support MP for President.
oh yea....you also brought up four excellent points in your post.
???
"with the exception that illegals can eventually apply for and get US citizenship."
No, Pence's plan does not put guest workers on a path to citizenship. Pence makes that abundantly clear. Pence's proposal does not deal with citizenship, it is a completely separate and different process.
Pence's plan allows guest workers to re-apply three times under his proposal for two year increments. At the end of this time they are REQUIRED to go home or to apply for citizenship. If they stay here without applying for citizenship they will be illegal and will be immediately apprehended and deported.
The guest workers' opportunity to apply for citizenship is no different than any other person who would like to apply for U.S. citizenship. This is completely seperate from the Pence bill and on the own accord of the individual guest worker. 95 percent if not more of green card applicants are turned down, so there is no guarantee any of these guest workers will be able to become citizens. And if they do, the fact that they were guest workers under Pence plan does not give them any advantage. They still have to go to the end of the line.
It seems to me that pursuing "punishment" for these issue will cost more than it brings in. There comes a point when financial practicality comes into play. Pence's plan seems to operate on a pretty practical and workable foundation.
The same could be said about pursuing punishment for prostitutiom, domestic identity theft, the drug war, shop lifting, etc. etc. If they are going to forgive illegal aliens for committing crimes that they are unwilling to forgive me for committing, then they will have a tough time selling the bill to Americans.
LOL!
You got that one right buddy :)
I agree except that under the current law these are not felonies, but misdemeanors. Therefore they are punished as misdemeanors. Paying a fine would take care of it. Like traffic court.
LOL! Amnesty schemes like Pence's "Tijuana Shuffle" make a mockery of any bogus enforcement promises they also might contain.
Identity theft is a felony, is it not? Use of a fraudulent social security number?
Ain't gonna happen...
I've heard some FReepers call Pence a RINO. Seriously.
They are required to go home today. No one makes them. Why will it be different for the Pence-Amnesty folks 6 years from now.
Sorry no dice. Kennedy, McCain and Pence can keep their amnesty schemes.
"The guest workers' opportunity to apply for citizenship is no different than any other person who would like to apply for U.S. citizenship"
There is a big difference.
There are several people here on FR who apparently think otherwise. I can think of one gent in particular who I will ping to state his case. He can explain it better than I.
You're right. The Pence Plan will never pass.
I've come to believe that RINO is simply a term for anyone who does not agree with ME on every single issue. ; )
"Could you please show me where pat buchanan's heroes and whom if he was King, IMO, grant instant amnesty and pardon, to mengale and eichmann, did such good things that benefitted people."
That is an absolutely inane statement . Just so you know, Buchanan had several relatives who fought the Nazis in WW2 , one of them being his brother . Do your research before slandering Mr. Buchanan .
