It seems to me that pursuing "punishment" for these issue will cost more than it brings in.

The same could be said about pursuing punishment for prostitutiom, domestic identity theft, the drug war, shop lifting, etc. etc. If they are going to forgive illegal aliens for committing crimes that they are unwilling to forgive me for committing, then they will have a tough time selling the bill to Americans.

I agree except that under the current law these are not felonies, but misdemeanors. Therefore they are punished as misdemeanors. Paying a fine would take care of it. Like traffic court.
