Ann Coulter Banned in New Jersey?
Two New Jersey Democrats are pushing to have Ann Coulter's new book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," banned from all bookstores in their state because she criticized four 9/11 widows known as "the Jersey Girls."
In a joint press release issued Friday, New Jersey Assemblywomen Joan Quigley and Linda Stender say they want New Jersey retailers to "ban the sale of [Coulter's] book throughout the state."
"Ann Coulter's criticism of 9-11 widows, whose only desire since the attacks have been to repair their shattered lives and protect other families from the horrors they have experienced, is motivated purely by petty greed and hate," the two Democrats complained.
"Coulter's vicious characterizations and remarks are motivated by greed and her desire to sell books . . . She is a leech trying to turn a profit off perverting the suffering of others."
Quigley and Stender conclude:
"No one in New Jersey should buy this book and allow Ann Coulter to profit from her hate-mongering. We are asking New Jersey retailers statewide to stand with us and express their outrage by refusing to carry or sell copies of Coulter's book. Her hate-filled attacks on our 9-11 widows has no place on New Jersey bookshelves."

Government officials also have the power to punish private citizens who don't do what they are "asked." It couldn't be more clear than that.
Around you go....
Government officials have not been delegated the "power to punish private citizens who don't do what they are asked".
Cite such delegated power.
Government Rat officials are the ones pressuring the retailers, and the Rats themselves recognize thir own efforts as a ban.

I don't buy a lot of books these days, have plenty to read for free but I did pick up a copy of Godless Friday and I'm enjoying it immensely. Everytime some idiot liberal does something like cry for a ban it just proves the point Ann makes about attacking liberal saints.
You are being willfully obtuse because you lack the integrity to concede the point you have been bested on by several posters.
Show a little dignity why don't you?
Goverment officials have free speech rights to demand supression of other people's free speech rights? Who knew?
There is no right of a private citizen to have their book sold at another citizen's retail store.
You think that there is.
Who knew?
"any abusive comment that, when taken in context, tends to or is likely to expose an individual or a group or class of individuals to hatred or contempt on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age or mental or physical disability"
Coming soon to Amerika.
Oooh! Nothing sells better than an "underground" bestseller. Go Coulter, go!
OK. Which one of these are the ladies claiming that Ann committed "hate speech"? Maybe their mental disability?
So, Ann has committed blasphemy and sacrilege against the Godless cult of liberalism and is therefore a heretic. I guess they'll burn her at the stake now. She should thank them for proving her right.
You don't have the dignity to even cut an paste by full argument. You've done that twice.
Instead you take part of what I said and you distort it.
Is that an integrety thing or are you being obtuse?
One significant difference in Churchill's and Coulter's comments is that Churchill's comments -indeed his entire life - are subsidized by the taxpayer and protected by tenure whereas Ms. Coulter must compete in the free enterprize system. I suggest you read the entire section on the Jersey girls to put her comments in context before you disregard the validity of her remarks.
You sound a "Jersey Girl" before having a dead husband to hide behind.
Simply disgusting.
It's worth looking at the type of thing that happened to the comic book industry in 1954: Congress didn't actually pass a law censoring the industry, but simply pressured the industry into censoring itself.
In a way, it's even worse, since by not actually making it a matter of law, there is no legal recourse against it.
Save the gas and get it on Amazon. More people will read about how many were bought through Amazon. Tomorrow we will see a few NJ retailers saying they aren't selling the book - as if 'sales are down'. More lies.
Buy it at Amazon!
Why don't we leave it to the retailers themselves to call or not call for bans?
The First Amendment of the Constitutions leaves that right to everybody. Even harpie-rat Jersey politicians.
Are you illiterate? What do you think ellipses are for, anyway?
