...a town where a dozen roadways are named in honor of those who died that day, few took to New York Avenue to protest the bookstore signing of the conservative author.
Instead, a defiant Coulter was met with more than 300 spirited fans at an event broadcast live to hundreds of radio stations by conservative commentator -- and Huntington Town resident -- Sean Hannity.
Huntington Town Board member Mark Cuthbertson, publicly rebuked her as he handed over a letter. "I'm here on behalf of many of my constituents. We are disgusted with your comments," he said, drawing hoots from the crowd.
Coulter ripped up the letter to the cheers of her admirers, an action Cuthberston later said shows she is "promoting hate speech."

By this, they mean the "Jersey Girls".
When you use your loved one's coffin as a bully pulpit to advance your political agenda and slam your political opponents, you become a legitimate political target yourself.
Good post
I maintain that Senators are just 100 Federal employees and no more deserving of respect than an ATF agent until they earn that respect.
But I do understand that you are just making a valid point. That analogy is my objection.
Oh I don't know, Daily Kos? Democratunderground.com? Perhaps.
I don't think Rush ever stuck up for McCarthy.
She does not want to look like the fat "jersey gals".
Wonder if I will be slammed for being insensitive now?

Absolutely untrue!
AC has been skinny all her life!
She shows no physical signs of an anorexic.

A little tact would serve you well on occassions, Ann.

You miss the strategy.
Ending tyranny requires cutting off the head of the tyrant.
In the case of Al Quaida this means literally killing the leadership and driving the militant muslim movement back into the hole out of which it crawls every 200 yrs.
In the case of the Democrat party this means using the electoral process to end the terms of the party leadership.
In the case of wingnuts screeching their diatribes it means disabusing them of the notion that they are worth considering.
Tearing up the letter demonstrates that they are not worth a response. It is not without tact. It is thoroughly dismissive.
Well I don't think there is a mourning period for the death of a loved one. Some people never get over the death of someone they love. I don't believe in that move on bull crap. But I believe these women along with Cindy Sheehan have not had the time to properly mourn because they just love being in the spotlight and they adore the attention and fame. But when the time comes and the attention is gone they will hit the brick wall of sorrow.
Uh, she's an entertainer.
The only problem I have with Ann is that she takes her very intelligent arguments (and I agree with her most of the time)and then has to throw in snide, cutting remarks, does immature things like ripping up these letters, etc...it just unnecessarily brings her down to the level of the immature liberals.
Listen Kemosabe, if you are going to insult someone at least have the courtesy to spell their name right. It's Coulter not Coulture.
Let's face it, ladies and gents: Looks-wise, Ann Coulter is not all that and a bag o' chips. And she could use the bag o' chips!
There are over a thousand 9-11 widows. The four Jersey girls are really obnoxious when they claim to speak for all the 9-11 widows.
She's an entainer...
