Exactly. Without illegal immigration as an issue, Tancredo is just a fat, round face in a GOP crowd.

No bill will be death for the Republicans in November. Tom Davis has said that, and so have others.

If the Senate had any interest in HR 4437, it would have taken it up a month ago.

I don't understand this logic on immigration. If people cant accept a Pence like compromise in the House then I am beginning to wonder the end game here with that group. I have noticed a slight change in the debate here and elsewhere. At the start it was only being against illegal immigration. Now the anti legal immigration forces are being more open in what they believe.

Well I guess that makes Bush and McCain the Jesse Jackson of amnesty.

I remember when Reagan passed an amnesty bill...it was a disaster and is responsible for the mess today. We can not pass any sort of amnesty bill without enforcement. The Senate refused to put in severe penalties against employers of illegals thus proving they have no intention of enforcing border security. It is all window dressing...the guards on the border who do nothing by the way. If the Senate and/or house was serious about this issue, they could put an end to it. Penalize employers-no jobs the issue goes away.
