Well my good friends George and Laura have yet to see the movie United 93. To see it they have invited 2 people from each of the families of those that died on 9/11 aboard Flight 93. After a late lunch/early dinner with the President and First Lady but only one of us will be able to view the movie w/ them.
Since my mother has not seen it yet - but is ready to now - she will go in with them to view it...and I will get an up close and personal tour of the White House.
This, on the heels of Memorial Day, should be amazing. It's going to be heavy-duty on my mother but I think she'll handle it well....fingers crossed.
For anyone who has not seen it please do - it is amazing. You'll walk out having gone through every emotion possible in about 90 minutes...and you'll leave knowing full well why we are fighting.
Hope everyone had a safe and great weekend!
God Bless America,
Chris Proud son of Patrick 'Joe' Driscoll Flight 93
Never Forget Never Forgive
What was his title? Head of Boston Air Traffic Controllers? Or all air traffic controllers? I got confused.
Congratulations, let him know we are still praying for him. All the best!!
Pray for W and Our Troops
BTW, Tell George and Laura that we pray for them every day! and tell them that I thank God very often that Al Gore was not in the Oval Office on 9/11
Oh my goodness, Chris... what an honor! Have a wonderful time. God bless you and your family.
A FReeper who had a member(s) of their family die on flight 93 is going to see United 93 with the President and all you can do is bitch about whether the article is in the correct category, aren't you just precious!
Awesome experience!!! May God comfort you as you watch a reenactment of this horrible disastrous moment in our history. I am happy that you will be able to meet our President and First Lady.
Hmmm. might have an oops. My Google searches on him show "Ben Sliney." LOoks like he was the supervisor at Boston Center...? Still looking through search results.
agreed!! I think it is BREAKING news to our group!!
OK, found him. His name IS Ben. He was FAA National Operations Manager in Herndon, VA. First day on the job in that facility.
Oh yeah - I think this is breaking news!
(Never changed my tagline since 9-11...)
How bittersweet. While I am sure she would rather have you at her side, I cannot think of better "2nd choices" than President Bush and Laura Bush. :-)
Prayers for all.
I was very apprehensive before seeing this movie. In the first 15 minutes, I was sure that I was going to be sick. I thought it was a great movie and it held me in the moment the whole time. Your father was one of the first responders in our global War on Terror. I know you must be proud. Sad, but proud. Prayers for you and yours.
Congratulations on seeing the movie with the President. I have yet to see it myself, but I'm really looking forward to it. Well, as much as you can look forward to seeing something that serious and emotional, that is.
What an honor it must be, to dine with people of such high caliber. I suppose that's just one of the perks of being President and First Lady.
Take pictures!!
I can say that from personal experience although he was still Governor Bush at that time.
It is indeed breaking news.
I hope that Chris_n_NJ finds comfort in this meeting. I can't even imagine.
My father was on a TWA flight from NY to St. Louis (he was enroute from Russia back to Hawaii) and his flight flew right over the WTC as the second plane crashed into the second tower. They could see it from the plane. I remember knowing that his plane was in the air, right there, during that time and he was unaccounted for, but we were lucky, unlike Chris' family. My family got good news, when Chris' and so many others did not.
We must NEVER forget. NEVER.
My son is a U. S. Marine serving proudly in Iraq. Please tell President Bush that I am thrilled that he is my son's Commander in Chief. Also, please tell Mrs. Bush that I said she is exceptionally lovely - a pleasant, and considerable, improvement, from the last administration.
