"And will the The Senate pass it?"

That passed it last year, didn't they?
And this is an election year.
If they don't pass it, it becomes a very good election issue for us at a time of very high gas prices.
Its a win win for Republicans.

The Senate won't and that is why we are in the crisis we are in.

"HOUSE APPROVES DRILLING IN ANWR!"

The ecosystem in North America as we know it is doomed. I pray for the souls of thousands of caribou that will perish.

Too bad the senate will be a brick wall.

The Senate -- no wall for the illegals coming from the south, but a wall in the arctic to protect the caribou.

Anyone got Caribouhoo recipies?

4 pounds caribou roast
4 strips salt pork or bacon
1 x salt and black pepper to taste
1/8 teaspoon cloves
2 each bay leaves
2/3 cup port wine
1/2 cup water
1 each onion sliced
1 cup water
1 cup cranberry juice

Directions
Lard the caribou with salt pork or bacon.

Sprinkle with salt, pepper and cloves.

Marinate in claret with the two bay leaves for 2 to 3 days in a cool place.

Drain, place in a baking pan, add water and sliced onion; cover and cook in slow oven (300 degrees) about 1 hour.

Add the marinade and the cranberry juice, cover and cook until tender, about 1 hour longer.

But many Democrats and environmentalists argue there is not enough oil to justify destroying the habitat for ANWR's polar bears, caribou and other wildlife.

Barf!

Barf! Barf!

Barf barf barf barf barf!

100 more airsickness bags. Quick!

These idiots don't seem to be able to improve their story. They used the same arguments against the Prudhoe Bay - Valdez pipeline.

Didn't happen.

This won't result in a vote to open ANWAR. It's a bill to get politicians on record as either for or against drilling in ANWAR prior to the Nov elections. As such, it's election year politicking as opposed to a serious attempt to open ANWAR.

It passed 51-49 on 3/16/06 in the Senate as part of the Budget bill. Collins, Coleman, Chafee, DeWine and Ensign voted NO, Landrieu voted YES. Voting was about more than just ANWR obviously.

Senate passes budget with ANWR drilling

"but this time they need 60. Hopefully there will be a few more sweating Rats and Rinos being it is election year."

Win, win for Republicans.
In an election year, with very high gas prices, I'd love it for the RATS to filibuster.
Great campaign issue for us to clobber the RATS over the head with in November. You gotta really love The Republican House for his vote today.

I'm pretty sure McCain votes FOR drilling in ANWR. It's mostly the north-east senators who vote against -- and then cry like babies that heating oil costs too much, and extract billions of dollars from the country for their energy-subsidies for low-income folks to buy the oil.

There are others, and there are democrats who vote for it. I think we've had 51 votes last time around, and it was in the budget so that was enough, but the house RINOS got it removed from their budget.
