Meanwhile, light sweet crude deliveries for July closed at $71.40 today on the NYMEX. No telling what the spot price is elsewhere.

"OH NO!!! There goes the habitat for the Spotted Howling Termite and Farquar's Jumping Clam!!!!!"
What about the mosquitos? Doesn't anybody care about the mosquitos? I'm saddened. Deeply saddened.
And may the Senators get off their ivory tuffets and pay attention to reality. Just this once...
To: Recovering_Democrat
The last time, it actually got through the Senate, only to die in the House when enough RINOs bolted across the aisle to block it. That was probably the best chance opening ANWR had of getting passed.
The Senate will kill it. Again. Reid may "promise" to pass it in an attempt to trick the House into passing the Senate immigration bill. But at the end of the day, even if the House gives him what he wants on immigration, Reid will just break his word and scuttle ANWR anyway.

[ Excellent! At this rate, we are very much on track to not only retain control of The House in November, but possible even increase our majority there. ]
Hows the weather in Oz these days?.. is the wizard still an ugly little troll?..

If the House can somehow label the ANWR bill as "Immediate Cash Assistance To Illegal Immigrants" the Senate will have it passed by tomorrow afternoon.

It's passed the house before. This'll just T-bone the semi-truck that is the Senate. Keep your airbags at the ready.

I'd say that what matters as far as he's concerned is what the people of Arizona have to say about it. Next chance to smoke him will be 2010.

"Maria Cantwell and all the other energy obstructionists in the Senate will do everything to kill it. "
High energy prices are like, so 2006.

"Too bad the senate will be a brick wall."
The Senate is a bunch of enormously wealthy and totally out of touch morons who spend much of their time admiring themselves and looking around for ways to strengthen their grip on their elected office.
A guy like Teddy Kennedy doesn't care if he pays $100 a gallon for gasoline. That would still be a drop in the bucket for him.

"The Senate will never go for it. They're too out of touch with reality. Besides they don't use gas in their bizarro world."
Now would be a great time for Republicans to blame Bush for high energy prices and demand he signs a bill for drilling in ANWR. The RATS would crap.

You'll have to be more specific. There is quite a crowd in that catagory.
To: RobFromGa
But what about the Dems? I know the ones from Hawaii support it regardless despite being super libs on everything else. I wonder if enough will bolt to allow it to happen just to avoid being blamed for high gas prices in their state.

2,000 acres out of 19 million???????
Is this all we're talking about? And this hasn't been passed before because???
I know, I know...all of the wildlife is actually concentrated on THAT 2000 acres. Silly me.

To: pissant
Now the real fight begins in the Senate. This won't be as big a fight as it normally would be because there is an election coming. An election in which the voters will be paying $3.00/gallon for gas to drive to the polls and cast their vote. Would you want to be a candidate that voted NO on ANWR?

Exactly, I thought the House has passed it several times. The Senate is the problem. Didn't the senate pass it back in 1996 only to have it vetoed by Clinton?

Hey how are your DU pals coping with the collapse of their lil Fitzmas story then? And the "Dennis Hastert is under investigation by the DOJ" ABC hoax?
Poor guys.
I feel your pain.
To: goalinestan
this hasn't been passed before because??? This embargo traces back to the Teapot Dome Scandal. The Dems are still riding that horse and the Republicans are still shy about it.
