Hopefully the government strips all the ill-gotten wealth from these two thieves and distributes it to their many victims.

Then throw them in the slammer and throw away the key!

Enron's accounting was much more ethical than that practiced by the federal government.

It is a crime for us commoners to come up with a pyramid scheme. Nevertheless, the Social Security program is the biggest pyramid scheme of them all.

Two set of rules. One for the commoners, another one for the lords.

unfortunately, it ain't gonna be hard to tie the president to his biggest lifetime campaign contributor. We need Snow on the air ASAP denouncing Lay and saying the president will give those old campaign funds to charity. Or this is gonna stick and stick and stick.

"It simply can't be that the terrorism case was more complicated than a high-powered series of fraudulent financial schemes."

Nope, it was a simple case of one (count 'em, ONE) juror who refused to vote for the death penalty and wouldn't reveal himself during the deliberations.

Far as I know, we still don't know which one it was.

Amazing in one respect, but not on another - When I last served on a jury, the instructions from the judge were far from clear... some jurors had some doubt that the defendant may have pulled the trigger, but wading through the definition of complicity in our state and determining if it applied was difficult at best.... had he worded things slightly differently, it would have been much easier....

"What took the jury so long?"

Lots of debate and evidence to slog through.

Uhh... Kenny Boy is linked very strongly to Bush...

Uhh... I know that, which Pelosi mentions constantly. Get it now?

She can't link any of this to Bush. Enron built up its fake reputation during Bubber's administration.

Bush was good pals with "Kenny", and Pelosi and company are always behaving as if this is somehow unusual, that they don't all have all kinds of links to all kinds of no-goodniks. Pelosi is the last person to be dubious about anyone's campaign finances, but she is always mentioning the Connection.

> As much as anything, Lay and Skillin were caught in a market collapse and being in a leveraged position, they got caught in the downdraft and didn't know how to get out of it.

Um, no. Like Social Security, they played a massive game of Ponzi-style financial shenanigans, and hundreds of thousands paid the price.

Finally they are going to jail. Good. I hope it is a PMITA prison and not Club Fed.

the 9 nights Lay spent in the Lincoln bedroom during Clinton's terms....

Ken Lay never slept in the Lincoln bedroom while Clinton was in office:

I still have a bunch of Opening Day stuff with that crooked "E" logo all over it.

You may possess the only thing dealing with Enron that has value.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they don't deserve jail time, but, how long??

And who will pay the price for the social security scheme?

OK - didn't get your point the first time. But it's certainly not surprising that the Democrats are going to make as much hay with this as they can...
