Nelson (D) 60% Harris (R) 33%
Rasamussen report ^

Posted on 05/22/2006 1:12:21 PM PDT by waterloofan

May 22, 2006--Senator Bill Nelson (D) from Florida has hit the 60% level of support in his bid for re-election. The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll shows Nelson leading likely GOP challenger Katherine Harris (R) by twenty-seven percentage points, 60% to 33%.

This Senate seat was once considered a a pick-up opportunity for the GOP. However, as the Harris campaign imploded earlier this year, Florida Republicans were unable to recruit a top-tier candidate to challenge Harris in the primary. As a result, Nelson is now one of the nation's safest incumbents.

Senator Nelson is viewed favorably by 66% of the state's voters and unfavorably by just 23%.

For Harris, the numbers are just 42% favorable and 50% unfavorable. This includes 41% who have a very unfavorable opinion of their former Secretary of State.

Something like the CA GOP, only I'm not sure who's worse.

I think this is pathetic (what I read here). If a freeper posts that he/she isn't going to vote for a RINO, who consistently votes with the left side of the aisle, he is labeled a troll or worse. Yet someone like Harris decides to oppose a bad Dem in Florida and who is excoriated? The GOP candidate.... and not only by Freepers, but the GOP Governor.

With friends like this Katherine doesn't need enemies.

I think that the average voter can reasonably look at Nelson and Harris and come to the conclusion that Nelson is the better choice.

When Specter beat Toomey do you also believe the better choice won? How about when Thune lost to Johnson in '02, did the voters make the best choice? You must believe then that Nelson was the better choice for the country and the state of Florida when he trounced McCollum? If Gore had won in 2000, would the will of the voters provided clarity to you that he was in fact the better choice?

After Nelson gets reelected and then votes against every conservative piece of legislation, including conservative judges, that comes before the Senate, will you come to these threads and tell us that Nelson was the better choice?

KH has no grasp that a broad consensus of Florida voters thinks she sucks

Harris is the only candidate who had the gumption to step up and run against a well financed ultra-liberal masquerading as a moderate. The fact that she was the only one to do so provides us with a clear understanding of her character. Her character is indisputable. But this is just one of two facts. The other being that Harris is not the one who sucks here.

No one's forcing you to follow anyone over the cliff. But we will remember that some of the FR community are snivelling backstabbers.

Plenty of places here in Tampa where that kind of 'talent' could be put to good use.

But Washington? Not so much.

You're pretty much out of choices. You could always join HitmanLV in voting for Bill Nelson. Is that what the true believers do? Or, are you just whining?

I think that the average voter can reasonably look at Nelson and Harris and come to the conclusion that Nelson is the better choice. In fact, I am certain that is exactly what will happen on election day.

KH has no grasp that a broad consensus of Florida voters thinks she sucks. Talk about a lack of clarity...

Hey, yes, the head lines in YOUR own "about" page reveals your true macho image towards Ms. Kathrine Harris!

Yea, what makes you think your thoughts and observations are coherent and meaningful?

What in the world is my macho image 'towards' Harris? One has nothing to do with the other.

You think that the Republican establishment is responsible for the defeat of Alan Keyes and the impending defeat of Katherine Harris?

Did it ever occur to you that their shortcomings as candidates caused their problems?

I'm not a supporter of Nelson- I was just amazed that he voted for Ensign. I've never voted for him.

Katherine Harris is our candidate and we will fight for her. The poll watchers can stand aorund and belly ache all they want, if they do not help, they are part of the problem.
