Sen. John Kerry on the fence . . .
http://news.bostonherald.com/opinion/view.bg?articleid=139994 ^

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), fresh from the ongoing Senate debate over an immigration bill, offered the following explanation of his vote in favor of 370 miles of fence at the U.S.-Mexican border (estimated cost $3 million a mile) at yesterday’s New England Council breakfast:

“I voted for it because, first of all, a lot of it is the repair of the existing fence. A lot of it is just in the Arizona area, where we have the worst problem, the most numbers of people coming over.

“And if you go down, and you look at the numbers of border [patrol] people that we have right now, and even the numbers - I put in an amendment, which passed, and we raised the number up to about 3,000 [additional] that have to be trained and put out there. But even when we get there, we’re only going to have a couple of people or so per mile, which is simply not enough. So we’re way behind, in terms of the training and production of people. And in the short term, I think this can serve us well.

“If I were making the long-term decision, I’d announce, you know, hopefully it’s a temporary measure, and we can take it down as soon as we have enough people, and we’ve established a process where we’ve reduced the level.

“And I think that should be America’s goal, absolutely and positively. But in the temporary, we’ve got to have a comprehensive approach everywhere, and change forms of behavior everywhere. It begins with enforcement. Enforcement not just on the border, but enforcement against employers who are hiring people illegally, which is supposed to be illegal.”

That clarifies everything, now doesn’t it? Who says this guy doesn’t have what it takes to make another run for president?

OK. So as soon as he's imported enough Democratic voters from Mexico, he'll close off the border.

His problem is that either he can't read the script the Shrum gives him, or Shrum is no longer writing scripts for him.

It sounds like he only wants a metal fence until we have enough Border Patrol agents to make "a fence of people". Because it's much cheaper to hire enough people to line the border...NOT.

There should be a laugh track running every time Kerry opens his mouth.

What a friggin weasle! By the time these jerks get done talking, we could have built a 12 lane highway along the border.

Series, I'd turn this project over to the Army Corps of Engineers to run the project using civilian contracors. If we can build the Pentagon in 18 months in a swamp, we can sure as hell grade 2,000 miles of sand and pour a concrete.

Furthermore, cost is cheap. Anyone want to think about Boston's "Big Dig" fiasco?

Kerry might as well be advocating building a fence but then adding ladders every 100 feet so that those who want to climb over it, can.

Or a tunnel.

Kerry's response: "Really? In Massachusetts we call big round smelly things 'Teddy'."

>>>...maybe Kerry needs another nickname besides FlipFlop! Suggestions? <<<

I'd agree with "traitor", "coward", "metrosexual fop", and "turncoat".

His explanation of his "border fence" vote above appears to be an attempt at:

Taking A Flying Flip At A Flopping Donut",

....or whatever that old saying was.

WOW, I've never seen that letter before! No wonder Kerry would never release his military file. Where did you find that letter if you don't mind me asking?

Read to the end. "Fake but accurate."

At least, the font doesn't use superscripts. Old Courier, with uneven strikes (indicating an actual typewriter was used) would have been better, though...

I'm pretty sure it qualifies (in a legal sense) as "satire", but you'd find plenty of folks here who'd swear to the veracity of its contents. Unless and until Kerry releases ALL his service records, we won't know what's really in there, and can only speculate like this.

sounds right. He does sound more befuddled - it that's possible
