Sen. John Kerry on the fence . . .
http://news.bostonherald.com/opinion/view.bg?articleid=139994 ^

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), fresh from the ongoing Senate debate over an immigration bill, offered the following explanation of his vote in favor of 370 miles of fence at the U.S.-Mexican border (estimated cost $3 million a mile) at yesterday’s New England Council breakfast:

“I voted for it because, first of all, a lot of it is the repair of the existing fence. A lot of it is just in the Arizona area, where we have the worst problem, the most numbers of people coming over.

“And if you go down, and you look at the numbers of border [patrol] people that we have right now, and even the numbers - I put in an amendment, which passed, and we raised the number up to about 3,000 [additional] that have to be trained and put out there. But even when we get there, we’re only going to have a couple of people or so per mile, which is simply not enough. So we’re way behind, in terms of the training and production of people. And in the short term, I think this can serve us well.

“If I were making the long-term decision, I’d announce, you know, hopefully it’s a temporary measure, and we can take it down as soon as we have enough people, and we’ve established a process where we’ve reduced the level.

“And I think that should be America’s goal, absolutely and positively. But in the temporary, we’ve got to have a comprehensive approach everywhere, and change forms of behavior everywhere. It begins with enforcement. Enforcement not just on the border, but enforcement against employers who are hiring people illegally, which is supposed to be illegal.”

That clarifies everything, now doesn’t it? Who says this guy doesn’t have what it takes to make another run for president?

I can hear it now. "Yes, I voted for the fence before I voted against it."

And to think, if the Democrats could have managed to get a few more illegal aliens to the poles, this guy would now be President of the United States. Scary thought, ain't it?

Yeah, especially when you consider that the Poles have been traditional allies of the United States. ;)

Heh.

How about Nutjob or Crackpot? He says we can 'take down the fence when the numbers drop and we have enough people'. (Would you even think of buying a used car from Kerry? Ever?)

At $3million a mile, I doubt we're building a temporary fence. But leave it to Mr. Flipper to literally want to be on both sides of the fence. "I'm in favor of building a fence, as long as later we take it down".

When he's undecided on a solution his key word is temoprary.

We should remind all of congress that election to office is also temporary.

How about Temporary Kerry?

So we can take it down (the fence) after we've reduced the level (the influx of illegals)!?!What the hell for? To allow the flood tide to build again? This man is insane!!

sounds like he was confused - maybe couldn't remember which group he was talking too so couldn't remember which way he was supposed to lean. (Not like having personal convictions that don't need changing depending on the crowd>)

This man is insane!!

That about sums it up!

Kerry might as well be advocating building a fence but then adding ladders every 100 feet so that those who want to climb over it, can.
