ABC Reporter Raves Over Gore Film, Compares Gore to Shakespeare and Dante
newsbusters.org ^ | 5/20/06 | Tim Graham

In recent months, ABC reporter Bill Blakemore has been a passionate proponent for getting all that harmful objectivity and balance out of reporting on the impending disaster of global warming. So it shouldn't be surprising -- it should flow naturally, like a melting glacier -- that Blakemore is using ABC's World Newser blog to plug Al Gore's new documentary "An Inconvenient Truth." The filmmakers could use Blakemore's review here as a promotional blurb. He calls it "96 minutes well spent," says "Regardless of your politics, it's riveting and informative," not to mention "remarkably clear, concise, and informative."

If you don't think that environmentalism/global warming is propaganda, consider what they've done to the language.

Linguistic changes are due to liberals? That's right up there with "It's Bush's fault".

Carbon dioxide is plant food........

.......and a greenhouse gas. A certain amount of water is an absolute necessity for human life. Too much and we drown.

That particular nonsensical, idiotic and physicially impossible idiom is due to the environmental lobby exclusively.

Ice cores indicate that atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations are higher than they've been in 500,000 years. Why is that? Nature doing her thing? Just a coincidence that industrial processes have been pouring carbon dioxide into the air at unprecedented rates for the last 300 years?

None the less, palmer is right. There's no proof one way or the other at this time.

Sorry. You're right. I misunderestimated their power.

He made comparisons to Shakespeare there as well. To 'Henry V', if I recall correctly:

"Once more into their breeches, dear friends, once more...."

I just hurt myself laffing!

Indeed, instead of conflating two words, you managed to use the idiom without thinking. Par for the course, to use another idiom.

Yes, Al Gore was definitely an inspiration to The Bard years before his time ...

Something that I've just been wanting to ask any "global warming" preacher is, "just what caused the last thaw after the last ice age?" I mean, there must have been some sort of "global warming" back then to bring us out of that ice age... So, what caused it... Was it the SUVs? Or, was it Bush's fault?

Otherwise, maybe it was a natural cycle, caused by something that's out of our control... After all, I read somewhere that the ice caps on Mars have been seen to be melting, or at least receding... What's the cause of that?

I guess maybe I'm just not educated enough, because I see that a) there's a historical cycle of temperature fluctuations, and b) those fluctuations are occuring on another planet, so I'm just not convinced that anything we do is either causing "global warming," nor can we stop it.

I'm surprised Al could put a movie together. You'd think he'd be too busy all the time in the bathroom after all his iced tea.

Or searching for the ManBearPig!

Both are a work of fiction. At least DaVinci has Tom Hanks.

I've already read that he may be nominated for an academy award for this movie.

It's not without thinking. It's deliberate to make a point. Language is living, changing - whether you approve or not. Get over it.

Maybe I don't know as much science as, say, Al Gore, but how, exactly does one pour a gas into another gas against the direction of gravity?

I like trains (Carson & Colorado Ry). If it's cheap enough I'll ride anybody's - for awhile, just to look at the scenery, listen to the engine, enjoy the upholstery and the cuisine.
