I wonder how many here will jump on the McCain bandwagon during election time.

This gives them a great election issue, painting the Republicans as the party that can't get anything done. And who could say they are wrong?

No it doesn't .. I would rather see this scrapped and start over then to see that Senate bill pass

"Most Americans are not as aggressively anti-immigrant as the House of Representatives, so a middle ground on the issue that could be acceptable to most Republican voters was theoretically achievable."

Not so. Polls show most Americans support the House bill, and don't want amnesty for illegals.

Anti-immigrant? Or is it anti illegal immigration?

Now. let's review this - people who have taken an oath to uphold the laws of the United States and defend the U. S. Constitution vote that criminals may partake of and benefit from their stolen fruits.

When an armed robber robs a bank (yes, yes, he may even be a registered voter), he is not allowed to keep the illegally obtained proceeds. When a white collar criminal defrauds the public via stock manipulation, cooking the books (or whatever), he is obliged to disgorge the illegally acquired assets. Sounds simple and straightforward.

Now come the political whores into the temple of Pandering Politics and say that since some of these illegals may also have registered to vote, one cannot afford to offend them. This is an outrage. Each s.o.b. that voted for a criminal to retain the fruits of his crime should be thrown out of office for manifest dereliction of duty and violation of his oath.

Finally, some of the pols who actually did the right thing should sue those who did not and take the case to the Supreme Court. This type of politically-endorsed criminal activity cannot be condoned. The Social Security system is weak enough without the political whores allowing theft of the assets. That the illegals may have paid into the Social Security System is just a "cost of doing business" - when a criminal buys a gun to rob someone, he should not be re-imbursed for his purchase when caught.

" Most Americans are not as aggressively anti-immigrant as the House of Representatives..."

Oh, I agree. Most of us think immigrants are fine. It's the illegal immigrants that get my blood boiling.

Hispanic/Mexican pundit showed up on Fox TV yesterday, demanding Social Security benefits as a right. They want everything and they want it now, including the vote.

Does anyone have the list of Republicans that voted to give illegals Social Security?

RINO's voting the wrong way (with Kennedy, Durbin, Feinstein, Biden, Kerry, Boxer and Schumer) were:

Chaffee

DeWine

Graham

Hagel

Lugar

Martinez

McCain

Specter

Stevens

Voinovich

Now - for those of you who state that it would be a great disaster if we were to lose the Senate in November - I have a question...

What good does have a 10% majority do when 20% of the majority votes with the minority?

I called the two senators occupying the Washington seats to give them an ear full.

Cantwell flunky : "the way you explain the Ensign amendment is just right-wing spin; no illegal documents or those numbers gained through identity theft will be allowed to access social security payments."

I asked how she squared the language with her supposed anit-i.d. theft stance; she hung up on me.

I asked the Murray apologist if he thought that once someone stole a credit card number that it would be only used once; that those involved with theft would suddenly get a conscience after one use?

He said "probably not." I then asked "how does that differ from stealing a social security number"? He said" I have no official statement on that from the senator."

Your tax dollars at work, Washington.

I watched this vote with complete horror an dismay.

The penlty for any other person other than "our guests" for makeing a false statement to a federal officer or the knowingly passing false or forged documents for benefit is very serious time.

Why is it that these "guests" can obtain money now from SS , again under false pretenses. Is like telling a bank robber " you can keep the money if you tell us how much you stole".

As a qualifier far any amnesty I would demand to see the last 5 years income tax returns which have been previously filed and not yesterday. i.e. on time (including extentions)as per IRS regulations.

This simple request, and yes you can obtain your previous returns from the IRS if you are not a record keeper, would sort those who are legitimate (morally legal guests) and those who are just here to beat the system.

Eligibility for any amnesty programs and contributions to SS could be determined without the problems of the newest growth industry in the US....forged documents which leads us right back to the beginning of my discussion.

Part of the solution is to just get rid of liberal "Republicans" like John McCain (AZ),Spectre (PA) and the rest of the so-called Republicans. Somebody posted the vote results, it's easy to see who needs to go.

Voting for "independents" or for Dems is not the solution, IMHO. Just get a true conservative.

The Republicans have maneuvered themselves into the worst possible position on immigration, with the Democrats politely helping out by doing nothing.

The Senate Republicans remind me of frightened cattle that mindlessly follow each other off a cliff. The Senate is a hopeless mixture of incompetence and corruption. If conservatives become a minority in the House then there will be nothing to stop this insanity.

The democrats seem to riding the republicans in both the House and Senate like a rented Donkey.. Knowing that the Donkey will get the "blame"... Who is in charge in the RNC?.. Bart Simpson?.. or Homer?.. Hank Hill?..

Oh! for the days of Newt.. Newt rode the Donkey.. Dubya seems to be of little help.. The boy seems to be oblivious.. or politically autistic..

Question?
Both parties are well aware that Social Security is on the verge of bankruptcy. To give the ILLEGALS this benefit will only weaken the SS for all Americans. Is this what they really want?
Is the welfare of the PEOPLE really the interest of those we elected to represent us?

OK, I have a question. Over in THIS THREAD, fellow freepers are debating whether a person who has been a fugitive (escaped convict) should be sent back to prison.

My question to YOU is this: this fugitive has been illegally living outside of prison for the past 38 years. Should he lose credit for all the Social Security taxes he's paid during that time?

Well folks get ready the RINOs led by John McCain and most of the Democrats do not care about you the average law abiding citizen. These Senators could care less about fair play. Hairy Reid calls anyone who disagrees with this amnesty bill a racists. Murdering Ted Kennedy begins to slobber all over himself when ever an honest Senator challenges this inane S2611 proposed amnesty. This may well be the most disastrous piece of proposed legislation for this country since reconstruction days. I believe this will not only back fire on the Republicans but I am hearing many moderate liberals who recognize this as amnesty and are directly blaming the Democrats for not standing up and defeating this abusive legislation.

The Democrats in their smug elitists arrogance are real good at digging themselves into a hole they can't get out of. If I were the Republicans this would be one area that would be jumped on with glee. The Democrats once again demonstrated their hypocrisy when it comes to what a majority voters want.

Some much for messing with Social Security as being the 'Third Rail'. I haven't seen anything from AARP about this.
