"..the state has not been carried by a Republican presidential contender since Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1984".
Does that mean the GOP should nominate a CONSERVATIVE????

It always hurts me to se Hillary called a former First Lady. She has no idea what entails being a lady.

Most of New York State is conservative. The problem is that most of the population is clustered in the NYC/Long Island area which is possibly the most liberal part of the country outside of San Francisco.

No Senator who has not been a relected governor is going to be President in '08.

1. How did NY buy into Hitlary being a New Yorker in the first place.
2. Not sure about Guliani but McCain will get his clock cleaned by almost anybody outside of Arizona. If he did win the nod the press would turn on him like a pit bull.
3. Now that I think of it all the other names mentioned are losers as well.
I agree, a real conservative (Newt, or that Gilchrist guy) would be worth more than McCain.

Bull!!
In 2008, Hillary will be the only Republican candidate in the race......measured by spine and scrotum!!

Why anyone makes Hillary sound like a formidable general election candidate is a mystery to me. I think she's totally unelectable myself.

In a theoretical matchup for the 2008 presidential race, the WNBC/Marist poll found Giuliani favored by 50 of New York voters to 46 percent for Clinton. So what?Giuliani is very unlikely to be the nominee in 2008.
Anyone who thinks that Hillary would not carry this sorry state with 55-60% of the vote is kidding themselves.

N.Y. Poll: Hillary May Not Carry State in 2008Actually, I think the Beast could carry NY state. You need strong, thick legs to carry heavy objects...and she appears to have those.

Here's a thought... distasteful as the notion is, a President Hillary would come with a most amusing sidekick -- Bill, the First Fellow, presidential spouse and all-purpose event ornament. If Sick Willie's prospective role becomes an object of ridicule, we won't have to lift a finger to stop Her Heinous.
Bill will do that himself.

I LOVE Giuliani. Seriously, I love the man. I'm pro-life, Guiliani understands that activist judges have no place in a democracy.
If McCain gets the nomination, I WILL vote third party.

Just another poll demanding the GOP nominate McCain.
I'd rot in the gutters of hell before I'd vote for McCain. I actually think Hillary has more balls...

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton could have trouble carrying her own state if she runs for president in 2008 I'd be very surprised if Illinois doesn't vote Democrat in 2008.
