You have your history backwards.

Please cite the "history" I introduced that was "backwards".

Because the country DIDN'T vote Republican in 1986, the Senate flipped to a Democrat majority, which lead directly to the Borking, which resulted in Kennedy and Souter.

I never addressed any of that. Do you often debate yourself?

So, go right ahead and "teach them" another lesson this year,

Please cite where I introduced any idea even remotely like that.

Bonus question, who were the Presidents who nominated those two justices?

Rumsfeld and Cheney deserve better from us. They are serving with their last ounce of energy and life.

They sacrifice for this country and for the civilized world, yet we denigrate them at every turn.

FOR SHAME

I think another thing we forget is what Clinton was like. The nice thing with Bush is he is honest about where he stands and you know exactly where your 'battles' will be.
Clinton and the poll-driven crowd are/were constantly shifting making it difficult to know if they would still support something you liked from one day to the next.
I would, by far, prefer Bush being wrong on a few issues than a President who's stance shifts from day to day or hour by hour etc. etc.

Good rant, thanks for your opinion. However, it's only your opinion and you know what they say about opinions. I agree the office of President should be treated with respect, as well as the President and First lady. But this is not a Republican board it is a Conservative board (just look at the rules). So how 'bout lets all treat each other with respect and remember that opinions are just that.

The answer to what? And why would it pertain to anything I have posted?

For all the talk on immigration on FR, I don't hear much of it at the water cooler.

The legitimate level of concern needs to be somewhere in the middle.

How about disagreeing on the issues instead of calling fellow conservatives names?

You mean like racist? bigot? democrat?

Too many on both sides of the issue engage in it. I sure as heck didn't start doing it by a long shot. I can debate the issue civilly. I can name 3 off the top of my head on the other side that couldn't do that if their lives depended on it.

The conservative base has been heard, loud and clear, by the Bush administration. The president's speech on Monday shows that - now he's talking a little more seriously about securing the border - in a real way.

The conservative base should continue to put strong and vocal pressure on the administration and the squishy senators to secure the borders first; and once that's done we can visit the "It's Not Amnesty" amnesty debate.

I see many folks here calling anti-illegal alien conservatives "racists," nazis," "bigots," "anti-Bushies," etc. That's no way to debate an issue.

Argue the merits of an issue. Stop trying to pi$$ off with insults (and get banned) those who disagree with you.

Being president is a horrible job. Just name the supporters of his policies in the government.

And you expect perfection when even you are against him.

Keep on dreaming.

And, you might look at the tax cuts, the attack on America, the defense of this country, the supreme court judges, the honesty in this administration.

That counts for nothing? Not to me - I am proud!!!!!

Kennedy was nominated by President Reagan and Souter was nominated by President Bush I, both Republicans.

There was no veil at all. I said it outright.

You used the opportunity based on a spurious charge to call people names.

It's pretty simple.

I am neither a "Bush-bot" nor a troll.
I have great respect for the office of the Presidency and similar, if not the same, respect for the current President.

That being said, George Bush, the current President, is much like any other President since I was old enough to pay attention to politics.
I agree with some things he does and says, and disagree with some things he does and says.
I believe that the Almighty put him in the office of the President to deal with the physical attacks on our country.
I believe he has done extremely well in this regard.
I also believe he has done as well, if not better, than anyone else could have done on the domestic front, with one exception.

I disagree vehemently with his policies on illegal immigration.

Would I disrespect him for that? Never.
I think he believes he is doing the right thing. I disagree that what he is doing IS the right thing, and have said so in correspondance to the White House and to my elected representatives.
I will say that I believe he is heading in the right direction but is off the path and wandering in that direction through the wasteland.

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat.
If you want my thoughts on voting read my FR homepage.

Replacing a Republican with another Republican is not, neccessarily, the thing to do.
Replacing a liberal with a conservative is the thing to do. Whether one is a Republican or a Democrat, if they are conservative, that is enough for me.
(And yes, there are such things as conservative Democrats. Not many, but they are out there.)
