[history]
I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

Strategically he always does this. It's insane. It mutes the impact of the speech and gives political opponents time to hone their talking points for the Demo. Response. Why would he care about the Dem response? Your response will be much more anti-Bush, anti-Rove than theirs.

Does it get cold up there in your ivory tower? I suppose your first job was middle management Nope it was a busboy. I didn't want to make that a permanent career though as you think I should.

In reality, I don't think he has the authority to post the NG on the borders. In my civil opinion...There's a frickin' WAR on, and he's Commander in Chief. What more authority does he need to deploy the troops? If this was January 1942 and we were talking California, who do you think you would be finding at the coast? Clue: not bordpatrolmen.

Exactly. I'm afraid they'll be used the same way they are used in Arizona..as mechanics instead of national guard. The National Guard is supposed to guard the nation.
Maybe they will provide support for a jiffy lube and guard the new combination maternity ward/water station/jumping castle.

He did them in high school.
Unfortunately, "guest workers" came in and undercut the prevailing wage for hard working high school kids. Therefor, those jobs aren't available anymore..

It starts at 8PM right? (I guess 8pm here on the east coast.) Yeah, I definately want to hear what he has to say about the invasion, about time he talked about it. What I want to know is how all these people like Drudge know already what he is going to say.

I disagree I think by accident people will be watching. They tuned in to see the final episode of Greys Anatomy and/or 24. I know alot of you arent in to TV but this crowd who is being interrupted by the president will be none to happy. Sadly. Not to mention the Mavericks are playing tonite too. That is a Texas team!!!

To be fair, the President reassured Fox that we weren't going to militarize (start a war at) the border. Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Yes, it does.
But I don't think Fox wants us to even secure the border.
Something Bush MUST do.

I think it's been scheduled for 9:20 pm tonight.

I fear it will be a lame, half-hearted attempt at promising to tighten the borders (meaning we tell Mexico where we have no patrols), and promising Amnesty for those who are here illegally. If so, the Republicans can kiss their asses goodbye.
